I purchased a 2005 Rendezvous July 2nd and after 100 miles on it the temp gauge was erratic, GM had no fix for it they tried and could not fix it so they bought the truck back after 3 months of negotiating, and gave me a 2006 Rendezvous on Sept 28th. This one too after 109 miles the temp gauge went all the way around past hot to the six o’clock position and stayed there, so I took it to the dealer and they kept it for 4 days then they told me it is fixed picked up on Friday Oct 3rd. The truck was still doing the same thing took it back on Monday and now they want to keep it for 4 more days. They changed the cluster the first time, but it did not work. Remember, GM does not care about you once they take your money. Both times I had to file with the BBB auto line to get some action started.
2004 Buick Rendez, now 2004 Lemonmobile. You are so right. This car was bought in April 05, and in the few short months with it, I have had tire issues that later revealed strut replacement after 3 times to the dealer for same problem, plus they took air out of the tires to reduce harsh road ride. Now comes the worst... severe water damage in interior, supposedly due to sunroof leaking, which 3 wks prior, car was in for and they told me I failed to shut the sunroof. I don't use the sunroof!! Now, they have had the car for a week and tell me it's the tubes in the sunroof that leak... This is the worst car I've bought; yet the most expensive and I can't wait to get rid of it, very soon. I am hoping dealer will take it back, but so far, he just laughs. See Edmunds. com Rendezvous forum if you are not familar with it. It's been a blessing for support for myself and others. Thanks.
I am the person who owns the rendez, who's hoping dealer will refund money on the car so I can go back to the good ol' dodge! At least they gave you another car. I had my 6 month rendez to dealer over a week w/major leak from sunroof. Promised new liner, etc. Liner is the same one. All they did was clean it and it's one huge water stain mark now. Called and left message for Salesman, Service Rep and Serv. Manager to call me Monday. I too, will be filing lemon law and with BBB. Your problems may have some answers from members on Edmunds. com page for Rendezvous Forums, and perhaps something there will be of help. Good luck to both of us and most of us with this car. GM seems to not care about anything, after the sale.
Leased a 2005 Rendezous in December, 2005. Took the vehicle on a 300 mile trip the following day. Called the dealer before returning home and complained about harsh road noise.
Tire and wind noise is BAD. Also back-up sensors didn't work. Dealer worked on sensors five or six different times before correcting problem. Dealer finally replaced tires at 3k miles. Didn't help road noise. Wind noise around right rear passenger is unbelievable.
This is the worst body assembled vehicle that I have ever owned and I'm 68 years old. No wonder the imports are taking over the U.S. market. Until GM gets serious about quality vehicles and customer service, they can count me out.
I purchased a 2005 Rendezvous and this is the best vehicle I have ever owned. I currently have 20,000 miles on it and the only thing I have had to do is change the oil. Vehicle is very quiet and on the hwy the wind noise is almost non-existent. Excellent gas mileage as I am averaging 28 mpg overall. (city & highway - Canadian gallons)
There are bad vehicles built everyday, but overall this vehicle stand out in it;s class. I have several friends who have one and they too love the vehicle.
If you check the new Consumer report you will see that this vehicle is now "Recommended". You can also see that the 2002-2004 years were very troublesome. Most of problems disappeared in 2005.
Local dealer here cannot keep in stock due to popularity. Believe me I know what owning one of the Friday vehicles is like. Had a Dodge Caravan that was rebuilt at the local dealership.
I would recommend this vehicle to anyone who is looking for a good quality crossover. New warranty for 2006 which covers 4yrs - 80,000km bumper to bumper.
Your heating issue is most likely the head gasket. My Buick would go to about 2 o'clock on the heat gauge and sometimes stall.
Took it in, and they found the head gasket was bad, and alerted me it was a defective gasket. Now of course I was lucky and it was covered under warranty, but they had to
completely tear down the engine to get to the gasket.
That may be what your dealer may not want to do.
My 2005 Rendezvous is horrible. What is even more horrible is the service I am getting from GM. The person who said that the GM doesn't care about you once they get your money is right! I had mine for 4 weeks now, I bought it as a leftover with only 47 miles on it, it was in their showroom. I have been back 5 times for various problems. My gas gauge fluctuates dramatically, so they had to replace the sensor. They had to replace my gas cap which was faulty. They had to change my evap sensor. My evap cansiter was cracked and leaking so they replaced that. Also a hose seal was damaged so they had to replace that. I had the Check Engine light come on 3 times so far, and the last time I brought it back the dealership they told me my evap sensor needed to be replaced and they "fixed" it and gave it back. Two days later the check engine light came back on. I called and the owner acted shocked. By the end of the conversation he admitted that when they ran tests to discover why the Check Engine light kept coming back on, they couldnt find a reason, so he changed the evap sensor, turned off the light and gave it back to me. It cracks me up that he acted so shocked that the light came back on. All of the problems above got fixed AFTER I freaked out and called GM and got the district manager involved. They took my car for 3 days, and coincidently found all of the above problems. Figures they couldn't find any of these problems the first 4 times I brought it in. I want to go the BBB too, but I don't think I have a case because the "same" problem has not happened three times or more. I don't think that that is fair though, if I had to go through all of this in a few weeks time I really feel that I should have a lemon law case.
The definition of a lemon is a vehicle that proves to be unsatisfactory. Well I think that mine has done just that in the 4 weeks that I have had it.
I do NOT recommend a 2005 Rendezvous.
I have had my 2005 Rendezvous CXL for just over a year. After only 6 months it began randomly stalling when coming to a stop. It has been in for service for this problem too many times to count. They had service men driving it for over a week and sent me home with a recording devise, which of course also showed "no problem". It hasn't been out of the shop for 8 hours and I almost hit another car as I lost the power steering when it stalled pulling into a parking lot! I am very tired of hearing "We can't duplicate the problem" and "We have never heard of this before". I wonder what they will say in the morning when I take them all the reviews I found on "Rate-it.com" with multiple people saying they have had their RDV in for the same issue?
Found this on toyonation.com, Not at all. The newbie knows what he is talking about here because this newbie used to own a Camry for over 2 years. And I can tell you that it was a piece of junk.
If you look at the Toyota Camry forums on Edmunds. com you will see that many Camry owners are having big problems with their 07 & 08 Camrys. There are a number of problems with the transmissions, hesitation problems, suspension problems, fit and finish problems, dash rattles, ect..
The Camry has a lot of quality issues. If this car were built in Japan, it would have been an excellent vehicle to own. But it's built here in the U.S. in Kentucky and/or Indiana with substandard quality.
I googled toyota problems, and found this site. I bet if you did the same with any make or model, you would find the same thing, a bunch of people that think the car company is the demon. Mass Production is part of the problem, and another one is every make of anything built has issues at one time or another. Try it! Don't beleive me, Google that Make that your thinking of purchasing, and guess what? you find another site like this one, with a bunch of people that live in glass houses and expect the world to be perfect.SUPRIZE!!
First of all, the Camry is not manufactured in Indiana, the Tundra is. Secondly, the manufacturers of the cars are the biggest part of what make a car company. Toyota fans will claim anything to dance around the fact that their cars are no better than the domestics. Quit blaming the manufacturers and blame the product. In my opinion, Toyotas are not worth owning whether produced in Japan or Kentucky. So what if yours is from Japan, it is still as boring as they come and probably not that much more reliable than a US counterpart, plus it does nothing to boost our economy which is in desperate need of it.
2004 Buick Rendezvous owner: I purchased the car new, and now have 22K miles on the SUV. A few months ago the warranty ran out, and that's when the temp gage starting going all over the place. I took it to have the oil changed and was told that my SUV had a head gasket leak. Went to the Buick dealer and the head gasket was leaking and I was given the est. of repair $1400.00. I told the dealer that I paid $36,000.00 for the SUV and only had 22K miles on the vehicle, but guess that I have to pay and then wait for the 2009 vehicles to come out. I will buy a new 2009, but it will not be a Buick.
This is sad because I have been a Buick owner for 40 years, but now retired I have to go with a vehicle that gets more than 22K miles before a major repair.
TO the person with the Rende that keeps stalling out... your dealer techs are imbeciles. This is a well-known RECALL on the '05 CXLs... tell them they need to contact GM's automotive service retail customer service assistance and DOWNLOAD the proper update into your vehicle, immediately, otherwise you will SUE, due to this being a DANGEROUS/LIFE THREATENING recall issue on the vehicle. Mine did the same thing, they told me the same thing when I brought it in, basically laughed that "nothing was wrong" with the car. I personally called GM customer service, got the appropriate information and called the manager of the dealership repair center. Your vehicle is DANGEROUS and SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN until it the update is downloaded and installed. Have GM contact your auto service group ASAP if they won't hear you out. My service group was Kelly Automotive Group, Emmaus, PA. Your garage can call them if they're "lost" in the dark. Hope they resolve this for you!
I bought a 2005 Buick Rendezvous in August of 05. I have been complaining about a rubbing thumping noise in the right front tire. Had 22,000 miles and the dealer told me I needed new tires. I was so mad. I went to Goodyear and they replaced the tires for 50% off. Now I have 15,000 miles on the new tires and they are wearing down sooner...
Had to have the wheel bearing's replaced in both front tires; that did not solve the problem, and now thry are going to try putting Bridgestone tires on the car see if that solves the problem; don't think it will.
Ps also had trouble with the horn; DID NOT WORK. Dealership in Florida said nothing wrong. Dealership in MA had to replace it..
