Well, we own a 06 PT Touring, and during our recent trip to MI got 30 mpg. 100% freeway driving, and we only used gas (regular) from BP Amoco. I don't know if that matters or not.

We average around 22.6 mpg during our regular mix driving. We use a mid grade gas from Holiday since we don't have a BP close by to our home.

My 06 PT does excellent on the highway, around 28ish mpg. But once I do city driving with the A/C on, 19-20 mpg. My summer car, 2001 Sebring Convertible with the 2.7 V6 gets 31 highway and 23 city. But I daily the PT. I don't mind the "bad" gas mileage. One of the first cars I drove was a 1989 Chevy Suburban with a Corvette engine in it. That thing only got 9 mpg. I'm happy with the Cruiser, it's dorky but honestly it's been one of the best running cars I've had. It's been to the shop way less than the Sebring has.
