My 06 GLI does the same jerking thing, like it's not getting fuel. I'm in the same boat.

THE ESP LIGHT /JERKING can be fixed by taking it to the dealer & having them check on the coil. There was a recall.
My car was fine after it was fixed.

My ESP light came on & the car also was jerking. It took a couple trips, but it was a relay switch. Cost under $30, & it's been fine.
