I’m saying for a car which is as old as this one was (more than 10 years old for a decent chunk of the ownership time frame), it’s not uncommon to need to replace hoses, belts, etc preventatively. That tends to prevent leaks, belts snapping/shredding, & other problems before they even happen. The rubber & plastic that go into those types of parts do not hold up well.

Agreed, there are other sources for coolant leaks including the radiator like you said. Also could be a water pump, different gaskets or a heater core (where coolant collects on the passenger floor board). Hoses aren't that common on this model compared to a Telstar.
