1997 Chrysler Sebring Convertible LXi review from North America

"I love this car. Will buy another when this one is used up"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The rear passenger window would go down but not up.

Front window leaks onto the window switches from a transition in the foam seal.

Water floods into the passenger compartment during heavy rains and water is heard sloshing in the rear side panels.

Tuneups are extremely expensive.

General comments?

The rear window would go down and not up intermittently at first then not at all. This was especially a problem because when the button is pressed or bumped all the windows in the car go down a bit.

This was caused by a relay that went bad. It is located in the driver door.

I have heard many complain of water sloshing in the quarter panels that often ends up inside, causing musty odors and stained carpets. I heard the sloshing for a while and couldn't figure out where it was. Mechanics were not of much help either.

This was fixed by locating the drains for the frame. They are about 4-6 inches in front of the rear tire on the crimp/weld seam, (the lowest part of the body). You will see a spot bulged out about the size of a fat straw on an angle. use a long nail or straightened coat hanger to clear this drain. Gallons of water came out when mine was cleared. It may not be a permanent fix if there is something larger that plugs the drain. I carry a coat hanger in all my cars as part of an emergency kit. I haven't had to use it again. I hope this will help all of you who have flooding in your Sebring convertible.

I didn't get to fix the leak at the front window yet but it is minor and only during heavy rains.
