1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.2 DOHC from North America

Faults:

Timing belt, as a result of this the engine had to be replaced

Transmission needs to be replaced, second and third gears slip

Passenger side window motor doesn't work

Driver side seat belt motor doesn't work.

General Comments:

Aside from minor problems and two major problems, I love this car. Performance upgrades such as an intake, exhaust, 17 x 8 inch wheels low profile tires, lowered 4 inches, and more make it a lot of fun to drive, it handles very and the suspension is nice and tight giving me no reason to change it. Even with the upgrades effecting gas mileage, it still gets very reasonable mpg.

This is a fun car to drive and attracts attention from many different people, young, old, and anything in between.

1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.0 NT from North America

Summary:

Sporty, economical, and looks good

Faults:

Idle stepper control motor died.

Coolant temp. sensor died.

Throttle position sensor died.

Radiator died.

Leaks oil pretty badly due to worn valve stem seals.

General Comments:

This has been a GREAT car all around. I have done some suspension work and it handles like its on rails. I also did some engine upgrades and its fast enough for me. It gets 32MPG on the highway and like 26MPG in town. I love this car and would definitely consider another DSM when this one goes kaput.

1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX 2.0 turbo from North America

Summary:

The GSX has been my favorite Mits. car

Faults:

I have had to replace the head at 120.000 miles.

General Comments:

I have a 1993 MITS. 3000GT and an Eagle Talon TSI besides the GSX. All of the cars that I own have had some form of repair. But, my 3000GT has been the most expensive of all the cars.

1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX 4 cylinder turbo from North America

Summary:

Again, an understatement

Faults:

My then girlfriend, now Fiance, put 30k miles on it in just over a year and didn't have a single problem with it!

The only issue we had with it was that the body panels seemed to get door dings pretty easy. The metal was pretty thin, I mean you could almost dent it just by leaning on it. But this has gotten better with newer models.

General Comments:

Absolutely terrific car. Fantastic performance, great reliability, beautiful design, and fantastic performance. Oh, I already said that.

1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 1.8L SOHC from North America

Summary:

The turbo model is better!

Faults:

I recently replaced the clutch and alternator. I will need to replace the timing belt, water pump and drive belts in the near future.

General Comments:

The car handles great, and brakes are good. The only drawback, acceleration is not what I hoped, but I have the 1.8 Non-turbo.

1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 1.8 V4 from North America

Summary:

Good value and lots of potential!

Faults:

Transmission went, had it rebuilt but it's still giving me problems.

Sticky caliper.

Replaced the computer and the distributor.

Bad fan.

Crazy oil consumption, may be burning it since I changed all the seals, and since everyone seems to be having that problem.

General Comments:

I love the car. It has lots of potential if you want to throw in an intake, an exhaust, and do a few other upgrades. The engine is very small, but the weight of the car still provides for good acceleration.

The car has great handling, the steering is tight and the car feels very stable. Put wider tires on and you really do feel as though you are in a race car, it simply sticks to the road.

The interior is designed great in my opinion, very driver-oriented. There is virtually no space in the back, but who needs it if you buy this baby.

Altogether, a good car to have, despite the problems. I'm pretty sure a 10-year-old Ford would spend much more time in the shop!

1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX 2.0 turbo from North America

Summary:

It's a great car to own, I could not believe how many compliments I got on my car

Faults:

At about 145,000 miles, a hose broke causing my car to overheat. A minor repair.

At 160,000 miles, I had the turbo replaced.

At 178,000, the engine head needed to be replaced.

Just recently replaced the power antenna.

General Comments:

This was the first car that I owned that I really liked. I would recommend this car if you want something fast and that looks very good.

My car is loaded very nicely for being a 1991.

The sound my car has is awesome. It has 6 speakers which are are all replaced, and now has a CD player. Sound is very full and loud.

For having as many miles as it does, my car runs very well and has one of the quietest engines I have ever heard.
