1993 Plymouth Sundance Base review from North America
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Everything mentioned in my previous reviews (so, basically, everything!).
Every part of the car, with the exception of the transmission and suspension (although it is badly out of line after a lack of traction and bad brakes sent me skidding over a traffic median, and also the clutch plate is wearing thin).
'Every part' includes new cooling, exhaust, fuel injection systems, catalytic converter, complete engine rebuild.
Even with all of these repairs, this brainchild of Lee Iacocca has broken down at least 14 times in the last year (I've lost count).
The final time was last weekend, when the fuel pump refused to operate. I should have expected, though, for it had been almost 13 days since the last time it broke down and stranded me in the freezing Canadian wilderness, forcing me to once again hitch-hike to get home.
General comments?
This is the worst, most unreliable car ever made, Pinto's, Vega's and Edsel's included (they, after all, only caught fire, something I desperately wish would happen to this car!)
If complete mental breakdowns and riding with anyone who'll give you a lift is your bag, then get this car. You'll be smashing it Basil Fawlty-style with a tree branch while screaming at the top of your lungs in no time at all.
If I have put on this earth to dispense one piece of advice, it is this: Do not buy this car. Run away from it and don't make eye contact. Unless you really dig long walks in the cold and dark. If I've convinced at least one person to not buy this car, then my work is done, just like my piece-of-crap car.
Forget carpet bombing, just send Bin Laden this car and it will be the ultimate revenge on our part!
