1997 Ford Fiesta LX review from UK and Ireland
"A wolf in sheeps clothing"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The clutch makes a strange noise on occasional hill starts and water / rain leaks into the passenger footwell. Other than that, the car is faultless.
General comments?
The best car I've ever had!
The 1.25 engine is an absolute cracker. I am not lying when I say that (on a downhill motorway stretch) I registered 128 on the speedo (honestly! why should I lie?)
This car has embarrassed so many others (Golf TDI, Merc C Class, XR2's, Nova SRI's... I could go on).
Excellent handling car.
Tip: If you want a fast one like mine, get one without power steering (you don't need it anyway). It will also be more economical.
