1997 Ford Ranger XLT review from North America
"Great economical truck at a reasonable price"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Dome light always stayed on from about 20,000 miles, tore out.
Water leaks through back window, but not too bad.
Check engine light went on at 35,000 miles, had to pay $350 for something to do with the emissions system.
Back of truck is too light, sand bags help reduce the sliding and jumping on the freeway.
Only about 20 miles per gallon, from a 4 cylinder, expected more.
Drivers side door handle will not open from outside, occurred around 50,000 miles, so I go in from the passenger side.
Alignment tends to get out of whack awfully easily.
Not much speed until around third gear.
Had 5 flat tires in first 20,000 miles, must have been the Firestone tires???
General comments?
Great reliable truck.
Would move up to F-150 from here.
Good looking and drives well for what it is.
Wish the seat went back further as I catch up on lots of sleep in my truck.
