1994 Nissan Maxima GXE review from North America
"Consumer Reports was correct, a great deal!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Replaced plugs once at about 110K.
Had timing belt and other belts replaced at 160K and plugs and wires.
Transmission had to be rebuilt. Think this was due to rocking in the Chicago snow at 170K.
Radio display had gone out in 3 radios. It is great otherwise. Got replacements at web junkyards $75 pp, not the Bose version.
Weird th-rushing sound corrected with a gasket between the head and exhaust pipe $250.
Safety belt light comes on for passenger seat. Never fixed it.
Had a fuel injector go bad at 120K. Had another fuel injector go bad at 160K. Heard about this problem after the first was replaced so I replaced all injectors with non-Nissan injectors. No problems since.
General comments?
Original exhaust system, never replaced.
Never replaced alternator or water pump.
I never wax it and it still looks new after a wash.
Looks new inside with a little cleanup.
Had the car up to 125 once or twice. Pretty quick for a v6. Cruises effortlessly at 85.
