1992 Chevrolet Beretta GT review from North America

"An underrated car for the money"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Replaced front brake calipers and hoses for the first time since owning after putting 50,000 on the car (there are 4 brake hoses for the front wheels, most cars only have 2).

A wire between the solenoid and starter frayed apart, but I simply installed a rebuilt starter.

Not that I needed to, but I had the following components replaced this over the summer: fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel control module, and battery.

Driver seat has began to wear, I installed a pair of seat covers that compliment the interior.

I also replaced the driver side sun visor.

New tires were added last year (wrapped around 16" GTZ low profiles).

I installed a white face glow pannel this summer. It's tricky with the 6 needle display because you have to thread all six at the same time.

General comments?

This car is a lot of fun, it's the first I've bought myself. When I got the car there was a 2 year old rebuilt 3.1 V-6 engine installed and a new motor mount, new catalytic converter, new euro clear tail lamps.

I use Lucas additives on power steering, transmission and oil.

I use Penzoil full synthetic 10W-30 motor oil.

I also installed a K&N flitercharger and drilled holes in the top of my airbox. Only a cone will do better for natural aspiration. This upgrade improved the sound of the car as well as power output. I then had a glasspack exhaust installed with chrome dual tip.

I can keep up with a Grand Am GT which has a bigger V-6 3400 CC vs. my 3100 CC.

The car handles very well, steering is extremely sensitive. I wish the suspension was tighter. I can take a curve marked "35 mph" at 60 without the front end walking although I won't be doing it again.
