1996 Vauxhall Calibra 16v ecotec review from UK and Ireland
"Fit a K and N, get decent wheels. They look the dogs. A dream to own"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Wouldn't tick over for more than 60 seconds when warm.
Cut out during deceleration (when coasting or between gears)
At steady throttle, It cut back for a second and then showed an ECU warning light.
It ran best when cold,,
but, get the cam shaft and crank shaft sensors changed (regardless of what a garage might tell you) and hey presto... A very nice car. Then fit a K&N, You'll smile.
General comments?
It was the bane of my life. Nice looking, but,
It was unreliable... crank shaft and cam shaft sensors are the secret to a good Calibra.
Fit a K&N, or drill the air box. Re-set the ECU (bent wire across the pins) it all turns out to make a very good looking car with a good turn of speed.
