General comments?
This is my first car owned, however I've driven Chryslers and Fords. I love it, for me it is the overall comfort of the car. I'm often trapped in it for longer periods of time, and love the leather seats, mine are power and that comes highly recommended as well as a record for highly reliable.
For those who don't know this is the last year of the Series I 3.1L V6, the next year GM advanced to the Series III which provided better fuel economy, quicker at higher speeds with some reliability issues. This engine is loaded with low end torque!
225's on the wheels are nice, biggest complaint is the steering. I grew up with newer cars equipped with ABS and I find the steering on the Cutlass Supreme extremely vague. On ice you don't get that feedback that tells you that there's problems, just a tug etc. I have very limited confidence in this car during wintry weather.
Climate control and steering wheel controls are a god-sent. No air-bag, and I don't want one either.
If you're going to buy a GM car, be prepared to pay for GM brakes. Have Calipers cleaned regularly to avoid big costs. I keep on hearing about the positives of using your parking brake to avoid problem, I'd advise doing it.
For me a very predictable car, I tell everyone that if I won the lottery that I'd still own the thing, it would just get all "souped up." I'd love to drive this car forever, but to be honest it's probably only got another two years left on it.
Battery has been tested as dead for 18 months now. I'm not sure what's going on with that. I hope this doesn't cause the alternator to go. But, the charge rate stays constant.
I've replaced most parts with parts from wreckers, things for these cars are available everywhere!
