1993 Honda Civic ESI review from UK and Ireland
"Amazing car for the money, insurance isn't too bad either"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Rear brake lights - blown a few.
Engine Smokey (high mileage) - swapped engine for a 65k one.
Changed suspenion to sporty stuff, rear bushes had seized.
Front tires go in about 1 month (no - I don't wheel spin although I do accelerate / brake hard)
General comments?
Considering mine is the SOHC (ESI) rather than DOHC (Vti), I am very impressed with the performance of this car, I did a 0-60mph in 7.2. I've got 15's on and didn't get the best start I could of, I reckon I could drop it to 7 straight. 135mph Tops.
Cars beat/matched from standstill, new celica 1.8, mr2 roadster, bmw 325i (old one), litterally a few feat behind a VTI civic, vectra 2.5, corsa gsi, you get the picture...
I have a De-Cat, and full induction kit.
(this didn't do much rather than kill fuel economy)
I get about 110miles to £15 of unleaded petrol (75p-ish per litre) that increases to about 130 if driven really sensibly.
Handling is superb, I have lowered the car to the bottom notch on my coilovers (about 80mm lower) and this car is amazing on smooth tarmac.. bumpy surfaces is a nightmare, but that's not the car... more to do with lowering / stiffening the supsension.
Seats are comfy, interior is OK, but a little boring... NO DAMN CUP HOLDERS!
