2004 Mitsubishi Lancer ES review from North America
"I look forward to enjoying my Lancer for many years to come!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Flawless in the first few hundred miles.
General comments?
The Lancer is surprisingly roomy and comfortable. Seats 4 adults very comfortably with armrest divider in the rear that has two cup holders. Very ergonomic interior with detail you'd expect on a much pricier car like grips over passenger doors, electric rear-view mirror adjustment, lots of storage space, mirrors in both sun visors, etc. Mine came with the "convenience package" that includes split rear seats and key less entry.
Very spunky for a small engine, especially with 5-speed transmission. Cruises easily on the freeway at 70 mph, but much over that starts developing road noise. Stock tires and the smaller rim size probably influences this. Steering is very responsive with no "slop". Braking excellent. 31 mpg around town with very little freeway driving!
I really like the exterior. I chose the Phoenix Red. Very nice lines, wide stance. Get comments on the roof antenna. The wheel covers are a bit tacky, but hey, the car was $12,400! For an additional $1,500 I took a 10 year/100,000 mile "everything" warranty. With that, tax, license it was around $15,000.00 out the door. A lot of car and a lot of security for that kind of money!
