1999 Ford Taurus SE review from North America
"Like my car, but wish I had went for the SHO"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Wipers come on and off at random, read this was common.
Check engine light on despite proper oil changes.
Ball joints replaced 80,000 miles.
Sometimes car shakes when braking, especially on highway.
Difficult to keep car in alignment.
Cassette player chews cassetts.
Battery light comes on when gas pedal
is floored, car slugs.
General comments?
Overall I can say that I do like my Taurus, however it sometimes seems to be a bit of a silly car with quirky
problems.
Driving in slow speeds the car tends to jerk around the transmission sometimes
seems confused. One application of slick
50 did help greatly though.
The car does resemble an upside down
bathtub, but it's unique and I like that.
When pressing down on the gas the battery light comes on and the car slugs. I replaced the regulator in the
alternator, the brushes were worn.
This helped some, but I fear the alternator will eventually have to be completely replaced.
