1999 Ford Taurus SE 3.0 from North America

Summary:

I want the 2010 model!!!

Faults:

The only thing that I ever had to replace on this vehicle (besides things being replaced during a tune up) was the coolant overflow reservoir.

General Comments:

This car was one of the best cars that I ever owned. It had nearly 200,000 miles on it before it blew away in a tornado. There is no doubt in my mind that if it were not for that tornado, I would still have my Taurus.

This car was so reliable, no mechanical problems at all, it never left me stranded once, never did any "weird" things. It was so good to me, after I lost this one, I went out and purchased a 2004 SE model. So far, that model has been just as good (but it only has half the miles). Yet, there is no doubt in my mind that it will make it just as long as my 1999 did (as long as I stay away from high winds!)

Never again will I buy another Nissan, or Mitsubishi... Both the 99 and 04 models have put the Nissan and Mitsubishi I owned, to shame.

1999 Ford Taurus SE 3.0L V6 24v DOHC from North America

Summary:

Reliable, fuel efficient, and powerful

Faults:

I replaced an oxygen sensor at 102,000 miles.

There is now a squeaking sound when I turn the wheel while backing up.

Nothing else besides maintenance.

General Comments:

I have been really impressed with this car. I only paid $1900 for it and it has really treated me well.

This car is really dependable, it has very good pickup and I still average about 20/29 as far as MPG, which is not bad for a V6 sedan.

The comfort is good for the most part, though you can feel quite a few bumps at low speeds. The seats are comfortable and pretty roomy though.

Overall, this car has served me well for almost 80,000 miles, and has been a great buy.

1999 Ford Taurus GL 3.0L V6 Vulcan from North America

Summary:

This car has a few annoying problems, but I still think it's great!

Faults:

The power door locks stick, but you can still open doors manually.

The clock display cuts out sometimes.

New alternator at 130,000 miles.

General Comments:

Despite some of the annoying problems this car has, I love it! I use it as a daily commuter to work and it has never let me down.

The ride is comfortable for the most part, but you can feel and hear some pronounced bumps.

The interior is noise level is low most of the time, but there is some pronounced wind noise on the highway. I have a friend with a Duratec Taurus, and the Duratec engine seems more refined and quicker than the Vulcan though.

As far as performance, the Vulcan engine has good pick-up for a 4-door sedan, but don't expect to win any races.

The handling is good for a car this size as well, though the turning circle is really wide.

As far as reliability, the car is pretty decent. It has never left me stranded. I've never had to do much besides regular maintenance. The car now has over 150,000 miles and it's still going strong!

This car has a few annoying problems, but I still think it's great!

1999 Ford Taurus SE regular from North America

Summary:

Will always need mechanical work, but lots of cars do

Faults:

Heat doesn't work, even after taking it to a shop, it worked for a week.

The passenger seatbelt is stuck.

Gets loud inside when driving past 35mph, it's not the muffler.

The starter gives me problems, but I get free replacements at Schuck's just for buying one there.

General Comments:

A friend says it has good power.

It's my first car and I love it. Still sorry I didn't keep up with regular maintenance.

Love the power seats, can sit higher up than Mom's Honda.

Great windshield wipers, I like em fast.

Can seat up to 6 if needed.

Has great cold A/C.
