1994 Cadillac DeVille Concours review from North America
"Love it with all my heart just hate the gas mileage and that it only takes super or 93 octane"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Well I bought the car from my step dad and he bought it for 15000 in 1998. He bought it with an oil leak. I don't exactly know where it leaks from, but I got it checked out and they want 1200-2000 to fix it and it is only and 40% chance it will stay fixed. I brought it to my friend who's a mechanic and he looked at it and said that it is just fine, the oil leak dose no damage all you have to do is keep adding oil in it and it will drive just fine.
Also the CD player freezes at times when its too cold.
The passenger heated seat doesn't work anymore.
The six disk CD changer in the back also doesn't work. Since you have to have the radio on a certain preset station in order to listen to the 6 disk changer there is a lot of static and they told me that I have to replace the whole changer and the changer costs I think 400 dollars not to mention the installation.
But those problems are minor. Oh yea, I blew out my two Bose speakers in the back and had to buy new ones at 80 dollars each and 120 dollars installation. I tryed to install them myself, but you have to take out the backseat in order to get to the speakers.
The service engine soon lights comes on every time I drive more than 15 min. I had it checked 4 times and by the second time they said it was a glitch in the computer and there is nothing I can do.
General comments?
Overall, this car is the most reliable, comfortable, quietest and smoothest ride I've ever driven.
My step dad had it for a few years putting over 30000 miles on it and it never broke down once. This car has gone from NY to VT about 7 times and not one problem.
It goes from 0-60 in about 8 seconds and that is pretty fast for a big car.
Although this car is ten years old, it sure doesn't look like it inside and the technology in the car can fool anyone to thinking it is from the year 2000.
This car I like a limo, it just doesn't get any better or comfortable. Just remember, they don't build cars like this anymore.
For anyone who is going to buy a Cadillac just know that the engines can only run properly with 93 octane gas. if you put regular in it, it won't start it happened to me.
