1989 Porsche 928 S4 review from North America
"Exotic GT performance for a Ford price"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When I bought the car, the torque converter seal and pump seal were "weeping" fluid, so I had that fixed as well as having a stubborn heater control valve replaced. Total cost was about $2000.00.
General comments?
This is a very well balanced high performance grand touring car. Unlike a sports car, which I don't consider it to be, it delivers wonderful driving pleasure in all kinds of real world situations; very few cars have limits as high as the 928. It can be safely braked at the apex of a high speed turn yet out-run just about every car on the road, 0-60 or 60-160. The cabin seating is comfortable and very well thought-out. The song that has the line "take the long way home" comes to mind whenever I get in this car. It can cruise comfortably forever on the open road, yet is a great daily driver, which is how I use my car.
