1994 Mazda 323 Hatchback review from North America
"Outstanding! But do your homework"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
My first 323 was a manual 1990. The vehicle was written off in an accident. My 1994 is an automatic and it too runs great.
Previous owner kept great care of it. The only problem I have with this particular car is the hatchback allows water to pour into the tail lights and if your gasket for the tail lights is slightly worn (as I have found out), you have a nasty water problem.
Not a bad idea to check it often. I have been told many ways to fix the nagging problem. From extra sealant to poking holes through the light for drainage, but the only thing that worked was a new gasket for $10.00. And I know from my old car that this leak was not a fluke. The mazda parts department team knew exactly what I was talking about.
General comments?
You get what you pay for. Proper inspection of all documented problems will result in a keeper.
This site convinced me to purchase a second 323. Reading all the problems with other vehicles in this price range sure make you aware of all the crap on the road today!
