1997 Ford Fiesta LX review from UK and Ireland
"Small car, sure there are better ones out there"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Front discs and pads were juddering and were replaced twice, again just as bad.
Persistent steering wobble.
Creaking front suspension, antiroll bar bushes then stuts replaced, noise has returned along with rattles from steering mech over bumps.
Exhaust rusty and leaking.
Rust around fixings on the sunroof and under the bonnet.
Had the rear tailgate replaced by the dealer after a small bump 6 months ago, appalling repair. Does not fit well and is going rusty.
General comments?
Despite some good parts ie the engine is smooth and responsive, lots of poor quality ie rust, wobbly creaky window winders. Unresolvable problems.
Dealers don't care much (oil on the dash after a service, hopeless body repair).
Have given up on this.
Previous car gave no trouble over 8 yrs. Vauxhall - can't comment on their dealers as I have never used them.
