1990 Chevrolet Lumina Sedan review from North America
"A great first car for anyone!!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When it was given to me the alignment was off, both rear struts were broken, and the transmission had a drip drip leak, Torque converter is going out, No a/c. Also, the front right CV boot tore and needed to be replaced.
General comments?
My friend gave this car to me thinking it wasn't worth anything. Sure it had numerous problems that should be fixed, but I only had money for the CV boot. Even with the existing problems this car just keeps going, I love it.
Off the line acceleration squeals the tires and has plenty of pep. However after shifting into second its punch is lost. I installed a performance cone air filter and it gives it mean growl that love. My best time in the quarter was 17.9 at 75mph. Not impressive, but its not a sports car! Gas mileage is OK depending on how you drive it.
Handling isn't all that great, a lot of body lean and under-steer at times. And don't worry this car is a BEAST in the snow!
The interior is very comfortable and roomy with a simple layout. On the base sedan all you get is a fuel gauge and the speedo that goes only to 85mph (trust me, the Lumina can can go above and beyond that, just be careful :P) My only problem is that the a/c and heat controls are a far reach, but oh well.
Overall this an extremely solid car that just keeps chuggin along, Bravo Chevy.
