1988 Buick Regal Custom 2.8 V6

Summary:

A poor man's luxury car

Faults:

It came with a cracked block, but I got it fixed at the dealership for minimal cost ($550).

Front right C/V joint broke, because of me doing burnouts.

Rear left brake pad and calipers needed to be replaced because of me doing burnouts.

Odometer works occasionally.

Gas gauge works most of the time.

General Comments:

This car has a lot of life left in it. All the problems have basically been caused by me. I started to treat it better and not beat on it.

This car is extreamly comfortable and the back seat is really comfy too.

It gets really good gas mileage.

I totally agree with you. I have a 1988 Buick Regal Limited, and the car is highly reliable. The door handle on the driver side is broken off, but that is to be expected, as much as this car is put through. It still has no dents, scratches or anything. Very reliable!

1988 Buick Regal 2D Limited 2.8L 173HP V6

Summary:

OK for the money, but with a few engine addons it rules the illegal street racing world!!

Faults:

Sticker (hot/cold) on the air conditioner is backwards.

Rear de-fog button will not work.

Amp blew up plus the front speakers are blown.

Coil pack for 2 cylinders.

Back disc brakes were messed up.

Seats haven't worn.

General Comments:

It needs more power and with a few modifications to the engine you can get some impressive power. Had to make every thing custom from other cars though, tough work!

Don't have to pump the E-brake anymore, wore it out wiping donuts in the local church parking lot and on cement (now that the snow is gone). Very impressive to the hot chicks coming out of the church for a front wheel drive car.

All together if you tint the back 3 windows and put the right hub caps (soon to be rims) on it, it looks just as good as any other car. Just not as fast as well... anything that is newer than 1993!

I guess I have raced it 10 times and have only lost once, by a technicality.

Cabin is nice with the fake wood trim, digital dash is not great in bright sun light, especially when you get a speeding ticket (45 in a 25) for it and the police officer won't take that as an excuse.

If you put in the right stereo system in it it also sounds better than the factory system. Mine is a JVC CD player with remote (remote has optional TV/DVD controls on it), 2 Kenwood 4s in the dash, Pioneer 6X9s in the back (no midrange so they pound like hell), optimis bass reflex 1' tweeter and a bunch of other stuff.

1988 Buick Regal Limited 2 door 2.8 L

It is fast but not as fast as a '96 Pontiac Grand Am

Faults:

Rear disc brakes.

Front brakes.

One coil pack for 2 cylinders.

Air conditioner is messed up.

Bolts holding catalytic converter.

General Comments:

It is a good car and works for me, but I would rather own a Buick Regal T type!

1988 Buick Regal Custom V6 2.8

Summary:

It's awesome, couldn't live without it

Faults:

Sealing hanging down.

Keeps blowing spark plugs and wires.

Damn air conditioning doesn't work.

Don't think my rear brakes are working.

Gas gauge doesn't work.

General Comments:

Despite these problems I have been dealing with, you need to remember these are all minor problems, with the exception of the plugs and wires. They are getting very costly in the shop as I speak, for the second time in less than 3 months for those damn things, already spent over 400 for those wires.

I dealt with the sealing hanging down, and with the gas gauge I try and guess as best I can. I have only run out of gas 2 times now since I had the car, doing kinda good at that. Oh yeah and the door handle just broke off this week.

The car looks like it is brand new. So a great huge thumbs up for a good paint job.

Awesome reliability, has not let me down yet.

Awesome in the snow. Just wish GM would send me a big check for fixing their mistakes.
