1994 Buick Roadmaster Sedan LT-1 260 HP

Summary:

Great performing and comfortable car

Faults:

Water pump failed at 50K.

Computer failed early in life of car.

Air conditioning mildewed (I live in a humid area) and required extensive work to correct, including a factory-supplied "after-blow" module. Had to replace the evaporator, wash the casing clorox, and replace all the foam rubber inside the evaporator casing with items that would not soak up moisture. These steps solved the problem - took about 2 years and 5 or 6 visits - all on their nickel.

Driver's window regulator failed at about 30K miles.

Driver's lock button failed at about 65K miles.

Exterior trim on doors falls off regularly. Glue back with silicone seal.

Front end wore out at about 80K and had to be extensively rebuilt. Still runs a bit left although nothing detectable is wrong with the alignment.

General Comments:

This is an extremely comfortable car, quiet and smooth. Handling is OK on good roads, but it takes serious concentration to control it on bumpy roads, due to a tendency to pitch and roll. Stiffer rear springs improved the handling somewhat.

The engine and transmission combination is magnificent. The car simply doesn't quit accelerating on the road. It is easy to merge into freeway traffic as it will go from 0 to 80 going up a freeway on-ramp. It will run at any speed you like on the freeway (up to 110 MPH - haven't tried to go faster) and will stay with any of the "muscle" cars from a stop light.

1994 Buick Roadmaster

Summary:

So much potential, yet falls apart

Faults:

Water pump blew, causing extensive related damage to engine parts.

Transmission blew, needed to replace.

Starter died, had to be replaced.

Rear wheel bearings blew, causing dangerous wear on the rear axle; needed to replace the axle.

Battery, battery cables, and alternator have all failed and needed to be replaced.

General Comments:

This car is powerful, fashionable, comfortable seats and roomy interior, great sound system, and an all-around fantastic road-trip car.

If only it wouldn't fall apart after 115,000 miles, I would absolutely love it and want to keep it until 200k miles.

Well Don't the batteries go bad on every car?? They don't last forever, you have to get them replaced on whatever kind of car you have. They do not fall apart what so ever. Ours has 125,000 miles and we pulled a almost 3 ton trailer for 3 years and nothing has fallen apart or gone wrong. Oh sorry the alternator has went bad I guess, that was $70 to replace. These are awesome cars in every way, power, style, body, and to tip the ice-burg, the horn.

1994 Buick Roadmaster Limited 5.7 V8

Summary:

High performance hot rod with comfort

Faults:

The engine intake manifold had to be rebuilt twice. Leaking. Engine always runs hot.

The front right steering on right turns will at times "slip". Dealer has never been able to correct since day one.

Interior door panels crack easy, had to replace drivers side.

Chrome trimwork on front/rear fading, discoloring.

General Comments:

Good V8 engine, excellent gas mileage for big lt-1 engine, with power to spare.

Excellent comfort.

Minor electrical defects.

I have a '92 Roadmaster with the 350, but not the LT1. It is in great shape, many upgrades such as Limo-Tint, K&N filter, Audio ext. What can I do to get more power? Any help would be great. I have replaced many items, would like to keep the car, but need more power.

Can someone help?

I have a 1994 and it wanders also (I have 165,000 miles). Do you know what it is?

Have put some goodies on it and I am having a blast.

* K&N filter injector

* Under drive pulley

* Catback exhaust

What a blast.

Don't mess with grandpa and his big old white stationwagon. Yes! Stationwagon!!!
