2004 Cadillac SRX V6

Summary:

Okay

Faults:

Catalytic converter, threshold rear door, not to much really.

General Comments:

I guess I expected more of a Cadillac. Maybe it should ride like a CTS.

Lots of blind spots (I'm 5"2).

Do like the heated seats, sunroof, and back up sensors though.

All in all not bad; just thought it would drive more like a Cadillac.

2005 Cadillac SRX srx V 6

Summary:

Fun to drive! on the rare occasion I have it out of the repair shop

Faults:

EVERYTHING!!! the whole engine had to be rebuilt due to a cracked head gasket, $5,200.

The radiator then went out with only 47k miles!!! $780.

The water pump and housing $1200, and the battery,$100 and I ran over a nail all in the same month! $100.

I was so glad I got the warranty, "I almost didn't because it cost $3,000."

Now the tie rods just went out and I lost controll of the steering, that will cost $700.

General Comments:

This car is a mechanics dream.

2005 Cadillac SRX AWD V8

Summary:

A well-equipped, good handling and fast crossover for the money

Faults:

None so far.

General Comments:

Purchased this SRX to replace the old 1990 BMW 5 series. Wanted a crossover that drove like, or at least similar to, the 5 series. We drove several types of crossovers before purchasing the V8 SRX. The BMW X5 was nice, but very expensive, especially the V8 version, compared to the SRX. The V6 SRX was noisy, slower and did not get much better gas mileage than the V8. The car has all the toys, navigation, magnetic ride, ultraview sunroof, trailer package etc. The car is very fast and handles well. A nice surprise is the stability at highway speed (75-80 mph) in a cross wind, as stable or more so than the 5. Not bad for such a tall car. The rear visibility is a little compromised, but the side mirrors are great and give lots of visibility, still you have to get used to the blind spots. The seats are comfortable and very adjustable, the pedals adjust which is nice for shorter people, but the steering column does not telescope, something that would be nice. Gas mileage is what you would expect; we have driven it about 5,000 miles and averaged 17 miles per gallon in mostly around town driving (average speed 36 mph). The navigation system is easy once you get used to programming it and Cadillac just sent an updated map disk apparently just to be nice. The Bose stereo is great. The rear seats are adjustable fore and aft and allow the passengers to look out the front since they are raised (theater seating), my kids usually get carsick, but this arraignment does help in this regard. The rear seats are also comfortable for my son who is 6 foot 5 inches tall. So far, no mechanical problems with the car.

2006 Cadillac SRX V6

Summary:

Very disappointed in the details

Faults:

The ultra-view sunroof failed to close properly. I had it fixed at 150 miles. It is now broken again at 13,000 miles.

The passenger side view mirror moves down when the car is put in reverse. It is supposed to go back to its set position when the car is put back in drive. It doesn't. I have to adjust the mirror after each time I put the car in reverse.

General Comments:

The car has perhaps the most comfortable drive I have ever experienced and the handling and acceleration are exceptional. Transmission is very smooth! I just think Cadillac forgot about some of the details.

2006 Cadillac SRX V6 V6

Summary:

Excellent!!

Faults:

None!

General Comments:

This car is truly the best car that I have ever owned.

Being a mother of four, I was hesitant to buy a smaller car from the minivan that I used to drive. The handling is amazing for a car of this size, I can fit a big suitcase and small duffle bag behind the third seat, but I bought a roof luggage carrier, because we go up to Canada twice a year.

I have two girls and two boys, they all find the car coomfortable, and it does relatively well on gas.

The ride is smooth and the engine is quiet, there is little (if any) road noise. Overall this car is excellent and I recommend it to any family that wants a reliable, safe wagon!

2003 Cadillac SRX V8 AWD 4.6 Northstar 32V V8

Summary:

Likeable Station Wagon (!)

Faults:

Nothing so far.

Only the price was the negative at 48k+

General Comments:

New Cadillac 'tall wagon' is all it was cracked up to be. Excellent acceleration, handling and braking. AWD makes for good traction in all kinds of weather, especially here in the Midwest.

TONS of features, including: DVD navigation, rear-seat entertainment, HID headlamps, extra-large sunroof, heated soft leather seats, power folding 3rd row seat, 5 speed automatic with driver shift control, magnetic ride control (computer-controlled magnetically adjusting shocks) and last, but not least, an excellent Northstar V8.

This, in my opinion, is better quality than any Caddy of the last 10 years. Superb fit and finish, great 'new era' looks, high amounts of safety features (multiple side airbags, stiff frame, etc.), and it can be had in rear wheel drive!!

I would recommend this to anyone looking for the new wave of station wagons.
