2000 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3 Vortec

Summary:

Strong and dependable

Faults:

Inaccurate fuel gauge.

Broken back support on drivers seat.

General Comments:

I've put 20,000+ miles on it in about 6 months. It runs and drives great.

Dealer replaced the whole fuel pump due to a bad gauge when I bought it. It could have been done separately, but I talked to the service manager, not the sales manager. Big difference.

Decent gas mileage, 14mpg with the air conditioning on, and 18-19mpg without on the highway.

Tows great; only a large one place trailer with maybe 500lbs on it.

No leaks, even at 113k.

Would definitely buy another.

2000 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3 liter

Summary:

The worst vehicle I have ever owned!

Faults:

All the items below are immediately AFTER the warranty, hmmmm.

Both front wheel bearings needed replaced at 50000 miles. $850. They cut me a deal since they had another blazer getting the same service.

Headlights would not come on. Dealership had for three days Body control module and 8 hours labor to pull dashboard and replace other components. $600.

4 wheel drive failed. $1000.

The driver door sags. No cost on this yet.

Transmission problems. Shifts very hard 1st to 2nd gear. Still getting the estimate on this one.

All remote oil filter lines. $450.

Ball joints, tie rods, numerous brake rebuilds within 20000 miles, lost count of the cost.

Seat recline levers broke off. Not replaced yet.

Then there's the stuff that was fixed under warranty.

Over a dozen service visits, ignition module, ball joints (again), all four rotors (Pitted at 2000 miles), steering column locked up (fun time with that one), differential leaks, it just goes on.

General Comments:

This is the last GM product I will ever buy. I've owned GM products for the last 25 years and the problems have gone from minor - do it yourself- problems to major big $ problems that an average guy can't repair.

I can't in good faith unload this lemmon on someone so I plan on trading it (at a major loss) to get another Toyota. The Toyota by the way has 145000 miles and has yet to give me any problems.

But see, you buy a Blazer for like $8000 less than a Toyota or whatever. And the chevy will probably break down a little more, but you will still save in the long run by buying the Chevy. Plus, parts for American cars are readily available everywhere, so they are cheaper to fix!

2000 Chevrolet Blazer LS

Summary:

We used to have a lot of trust in GM vehicles, but not anymore I'm afraid

Faults:

For the person who is having trouble with the rear differential, my son is now having to replace his as of June 2007 with 125,000 miles on the car, and it is costing him 1275.00 to replace it (with a used part).

Others on this site have complained about the Chevy Blazer's gas gauge breaking; my son's just stopped working as well. Never another Chevy.

General Comments:

This 2000 Chevy Blazer has not really given my son any trouble up until now, after owning it for almost a year (he bought it used). Now it seems that there are multiple problems with this vehicle. He can't afford all this maintenance at his age (18) and on his income.

Sorry Chevy, the next time there is a vehicle purchase, we won't be considering Chevrolet.

2 things go wrong in 100,000+ miles and you put the brand name down? Geez maybe the previous owner abused it or your son abused it as well in the given time.

Anywho, these particular models are KNOWN to give trouble anyway as you can see from the reviews, but I wouldn't shun the maker... everyone makes mistakes.

2000 Chevrolet Blazer LS 6 cylinder

Faults:

My 2000 chevy blazer ls, has been great!! It is 7 years old with 149,000 on it. It has been the most dependable suv I have ever owned. The only thing that has happened I can't adjust my seat, the handle broke off. Just had it inspected through NY state inspection, Passed with flying colors. I have read horror stories about this suv, but I am here to say, I have only replaced a starter, and a small brake leak, 7yrs old under 500.00 in repairs since new.
