2000 Chevrolet Blazer

Summary:

I'm satisfied with this Blazer

Faults:

I bought this vehicle roughly two weeks ago. When I purchased it, the seat levers were broken off and my dealer told me of a place to purchase some newer stronger ones and yesterday the drivers side window has quit working. This vehicle is a 2000 with roughly 120k miles on it. It's a used car and I expect things to go wrong with it. Things do wear out. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on the drivers side window thing though?

General Comments:

I love this Blazer. The previous owner obviously took very very good care of it. It shows.

I have had my Blazer for 4 years and numerous things have been replaced. As for the window not working, my driver's side window stopped also. If I pressed the switch, it just clicked like the window itself was stuck. What I wound up doing was to take the inner panel off the door and everything looked alright. I put a test light to the wiring on the motor and it had power to the motor. I tapped on the motor itself with a hammer and the window worked. Hope this helps you out.

Summary:

My truck is the best, turn the frowns upside down!

Faults:

Well the alternator went right after I bought it. lets see oh no $65 at the junkyard, works 100%

Next...The Seat Handle busted, o well.

That's it.

General Comments:

This truck is the best hands down. I have no idea whats wrong with half of the other trucks people on here seem to have so many problems with. The best part is how much money you're blowing away. I've worked on cars my whole life, obviously none of you can or have the time. The reason why these little repairs are such a kick in the nuts is because you are paying a dealership or a mechanic about 800 bucks to work on the truck, and lets see, maybe 30-100 bucks for the part. Like wow! Every car has its problems, pick up a God damn wrench n fix it. The longest job should only take the biggest idiot a weekend!

Your experience of 5,000 miles of ownership does not appear to be enough to be a valid sample. If you think that dropping a new transmission in or replacing the hubs is a skills requirement for ownership then that verifies the poor quality of this GM product.

Although I do not own one, my sister in law does. I perform all the maintenance on her vehicle. And I would have to agree with the original post. All vehicles require maintenance. You drive them, they break! They are machines!!!

I do agree with some on here complaining about cheesy seat handles, door pin bushings, etc... If you have replaced them and they break soon after, change parts suppliers. It's more than likely a parts issue.

As for things that the car owner can and cannot do. I agree, although I can and have changed transmissions before at home. I would not expect the average owner to do so.

Bearings, t-stats, and such are easy repairs. Get a Haynes manual, get greasy, or quit complaining about paying someone to do it for you!

Just so you know, I've worked at a Volvo/Mercedes and Ford dealerships. I'm also master certified through Ford and ASE. I've owned Fords, Subarus, Dodges, etc... basically, I'm not biased...

Faults:

Nothing, ever.

General Comments:

This is a reliable truck that's never given me any problems. I have not had any of the problems everyone else seems to have. I have 95,000 miles, and it runs like new. Only thing is the driver's door does make noise. Annoying, yes. And gas mileage? I get 24.5 to 25 Miles Per Gallon Highway! Shurly this isn't what people consider bad for a 4,000 pound 4X4 truck? I get about 16.5 to 17 MPG city, also not bad. Never done any repairs just regular maintenance. I do have the fuel gauge that can't make it's mind up temporarily when put in reverse, but it works fine other than that. By the way guys, the cd player says "ERR" when you try to play a CD-RW. Try a CD-R! My Blazer just loves me I guess :)
