I have a fluttering gas paddle too. I brought it back to the dealership (while under warranty) and they said there was nothing wrong with it. I bet if I brought it back now, they would find something to be replaced! Also having problems with the ignition cylinder, wheel bearings, rotors, and the passenger seatbelt ALWAYS locks (the dealership said there was nothing wrong with that too.

2004 Chevrolet Epica LS 2.5 six

Summary:

Good value for such a loaded vehicle

Faults:

Engine developed an oil leak from the timing cover.. but I personally did not see oil on the ground.. This was detected by regular service inspections.. However it was an eight hour repair.

General Comments:

One great little car... very good gas mileage, on the mid to upper 30's on the highway..

Interior looks expensive and power seats are a real bonus plus being very comfortable.

On the downside.. rear seat belts just cannot be used by an adult without much fiddling around to connect to the female part. It seems that the female part is too short and occupant sits on it when trying to connect.. Sent word to GM, but not solution offered.

2004 Chevrolet Epica LS

Summary:

Drives like more car than you paid for!

Faults:

I had some trouble with stalling when I had the A/C on high on very hot days.

The dealer serviced the computer and I have had no problems since.

General Comments:

I enjoy driving this car. It handles very well and is very comfortable.

As mentioned in other reviews, the engine is not very gutsy, but if you don't care about that, then give this car a try.

To the last comment, I'm confused, what were you trying to say.

I have a 04 Epica; great car, sure it's a little hard to get parts for, but hell I've done 210 kmh down the highway with it, stock everything. It rides smooth. I like this car a lot.

We bought our lovely 04 Chevy Epica LT this year. We love the car, it rides so smooth, it is a luxury car to us. We live in the area where snow is plentiful; drove it today in the snow, no problem.

Our dealer is honest, so if anything should happen we are sure they would not hesitate to offer a solution. Thank you.

2004 Chevrolet Epica LS I-6 Inline Gas

Summary:

It is an excellent car for the money and is comparable to others in it's class for about $10K less

Faults:

A "Check Engine" light came on at 1200 miles.

Recent white smoke at start-up.

General Comments:

I have the USA model of the Epica which is the Suzuki Verona S. This is the same car with the exception of options between the USA and Canadian models.

Verona does not offer Traction Control so that is not an issue.

The in-line 6 cylinder engine is designed by Porsche and runs strong, and powerful with excellent acceleration.

It has a Holden transmission (which is GM in Australia) The drop in RPM is minimal and lag time is what is expected. The shifting described by others seems extreme, but it does shift differently than other cars however is performing exactly as it was designed to.

2005 Chevrolet Epica LT 2.5L

Summary:

This is a very nice car for the price and would suggest it to anyone

Faults:

Overall the car is extremely well valued and from my short experience with it I would purchase it again. There are however three problems that I have encountered so far with my car.

First, the gas mileage as already mentioned in almost every other review, is poor. My first two tanks of 50 plus Liters got me only 400 Kilometres (13L per 100km). This might be because the engine is new and once you reach around 10,000 km you will see the dealers estimated range, I sure hope so.

Second, I have encountered the same problem as many in terms of headlight condensation. My dealer has said it is easy to fix they will drill a hole for the water to escape. This problem not only exists in the Epica, but all GM products.

Third, When I picked up the car I noticed the brake routers has a lot of rust. This will cause accelerated wear on the pads and they were not willing to fix the problem. This problem also exists on any other car that has sat for a while not just the Epica.

General Comments:

This car is very attractive for the price. Many people have mentioned to me after seeing it, that they thought it was more expensive. The interior in the LT is very nice, standard sunroof and chrome accent on the doors make it very eye pleasing.

The car while driving is extremely smooth, almost as if you are driving a luxury car. The seating in the front is very comfortable, I haven't sat in the back yet.

If you are shopping for an Epica I personnaly suggest the LT model. You will be happier with it in the long run for only a couple thousand more.

I have to agree about the gas mileage being really poor. The reason I purchased this car was for the supposedly good gas mileage and I was really disappointed. A car which is advertised at 37 miles per gallon in Canada and I am lucky to get mid 20's, with a lot of tankfuls in the low 20's.

Overall besides that my wife and I like the car, but GM in my opinion knows how bad the mileage is for this car and they still keep advertising it at 37, it seems like false advertising to me, I know that if I was told upfront that the mileage would be in the mid 20's I wouldn't have given the car a second look.
