Nothing so far. I've noticed when you start the car, it tends to die if it hasn't been warmed up enough. Also when you break the car tends to jerk a bit.

General Comments:

It's a powerful and dependable car.

Summary:

Surprisingly powerful car plagued with problems

Faults:

Power Steering leaked resulting in the need for a new pump.

Front brakes locked up while driving down highway.

Dash board is curling up.

General Comments:

Great Performance for the cars stature.

Loves gas.

Stuffed engine compartment make it almost impossible to work on.

Changing spark plugs could easily take hours.

If alternator stops working, plan on spending at least a whole weekend fixing it.

Troubles out weighs the extra performance.

Hello, I am in the process of getting a 93 Chevy Lumina Z34. It only has 76,000 miles on it. I love the look of the car. It looks like it could take a lickin and keep on tickin. I want something that I can feel safe in and this looks like it. I have been eying this car for about 4 months now. It's in great shape, a.c. still blows cold and it sounds like the engine is pretty strong. We are needing a family car to go back and forth on the highway. We have a lot of family that live down south here in Florida. We happen to live and Jacksonville and we have never had a vehicle that we trusted to go back and forth on any given weekend. Or even for that matter take down and stay for a week and feel safe driving back home. From the previous post it sounds like it is a pretty trustworthy vehicle. But then the prior post to that one sounds like it's a lot of "work". Any input would be appreciated.

1993 Chevrolet Lumina Eurosport 3.1

Summary:

A mass produced cheap average car

Faults:

The starter was replaced under warranty.

The brakes have been replaced four times in 90,000 miles! That's a serious pain in the neck, but not too much of a budget buster.

The service engine soon light has been coming on over the past year. The dealer fixed it once. The next time, the light didn't come on for them. I just continue to drive since it seems to be running fine.

General Comments:

The engine runs hot. Heavy traffic and long stop lights send the temp meter soaring.

The paint on the hood and trunk lid faded very early on. The dash warped too.

It doesn't match up to the fit and finish or reliability of my Mazda. Still, it's a cheap car to buy and operate.

I bought my '93 white Lumina (133,000 miles) about 9 months ago for only $2000.

Problems:

The driver's side door hinge, which is bolted to the front post, is rusting out. The door will have to be removed to make the repair. The dash board is all curled up. Also, when I first got the car, the engine seemed to run hot. A coolant line rusted out and the antifreeze was always running low. I had the line replaced, along with the thermostat & hoses, and flushed the system. Problem resolved.

I had to replace the front rotors and the rear pads. And I had the A/C retrofitted with a new refrigerant. In ended up spending an additional $1200, which is about what I expected.

Results:

The 3.1L engine runs like a banshee! It accelerates exceedingly well. And I just love the throaty sound of the exhaust. It sounds totally robust without being too loud.

I drive the car every month from Chicago to Columbus. It rides and handles very well. A total of $3200 for this ride was well worth it!
