2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LT V6

Summary:

Bad quality for a $37,000 new vehicle

Faults:

Oxygen sensor went out at 30,000 miles

Fan clutch out at 42,000 miles

Weather stripping around doors falls off.

General Comments:

Great driving vehicle.

Weather stripping around doors has fallen off since I purchased it, new.

I don't need to be taking a new car to the dealer this often.

2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LTZ

Summary:

I still love it

Faults:

After reading this site, I now know that my clutch fan is going out. My car also sounded like a jet engine, and the check engine light came on. The noise use to happen intermittently, but would go away. Recently it kept on for just over two weeks, and now it's been quiet for the last 3 days, however the check engine light is still on. I plan to contact the dealer and see if there is a recall, or what they are going to do about it since it seems to be a very common problem with TBs and Envoys alike.

General Comments:

Otherwise, I have loved this car. Other than the recalls, I have had no problems with this car at all.

2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LT EXT 4.2L Inline 6

Summary:

Great towing/vacation vehicle!

Faults:

Squeaks sound from under the truck every couple months, warped bumper, peeling radio controls, sway bar end links needed to be replaced at about 60K km's, power steering pump gone bad at around 50K km's, tranny whine, steering wheel rubbing sound, rock chips on rear doors, in front of rear tires.

General Comments:

Although gas mileage could use some improvements, this truck is very spacious and hauls like there's nothing there. Lots of leg room and very comfortable. Great on long road trips! Very well constructed and handles crashed pretty well.

How do you rate the vehicle with such high marks, when your list of complaints is so large?

I have a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer EXT and I wish I had NEVER bought this vehicle. I bought it only a year and a half ago... and it's been in the shop literally, every single two months with something wrong with it! First rear defrost didn't work and back wiper motor needed replacing. After that the speedometer quit working and the entire instrument panel needed to be replaced... Then 11 months into owning it I was replacing the entire engine...6 months later... replacing the front differential... not even two days later, the oil pump seems to be going bad and the "service engine soon" light comes on saying it is running too rich...

I have completely had it with this vehicle... and would NEVER purchase another one again...

2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS

Summary:

Great, but yucky gas mileage!!

Faults:

It uses a lot of gas.

On good days (trips) we can get 20 miles to the gallon.

In town 17.

Don't like the way rust is already appearing on the chassis.

General Comments:

Rides great!!

Plenty of leg room.

Oil change easy to do.

2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LTZ 6

Summary:

Spend the same $38,000 on a Toyota or Nissan!

Faults:

I foolishly bought this Trailblazer after trading in a 1997 Blazer that nearly bankrupted me.

The biggest problem is all the little problems. I have had issues with the taillights malfunctioning, now covered by warranty, the air conditioning, oil leaks, seals falling off of the doors, 4x4 service light coming on, defective battery from the factory, stabilizer bars going bad in less than 40,000 miles, not starting and nobody can figure that out.

The only good thing about this situation is that I was smart enough to lease this last Chevy so this pile of junk will be Chevy's problem in 6 months, not mine.

Most of my family has gone from American to Domestic just for quality and resale and I will follow in those footsteps next year.

General Comments:

Even though this is a very comfortable truck for your from seat passengers, the back seat is left with very uncomfortable backs that do not recline and a serious lack of leg room.

The towing capability is great if you like to drive at 6000 rpm. Anything less is a struggle even for my little pop-up camper.

I must give credit where credit is due. This Trailblazer has been a great snow traction vehicle when going to my home in Northern Wisconsin.

I still won't buy another Chevy.
