2006 Ford Five Hundred Limited 3.0L V6

Summary:

Good car for the money

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car.

General Comments:

This car is comfortable and a pleasure to drive. The seats are wide and high, almost like a recliner in your living room, but not quite as cushy. You sit up really high in this car, similar to a small SUV or truck. On the Limited, both the driver's and passenger's seats are power-operated (8-way on the driver's side, 4-way on the passenger's) and heated. The rear seat is actually a touch higher than the front, but I can't say how comfortable it is as I've never rode in the back.

Performance is adequate for a car this size. It could use more oomph, and it'll never "go" like a Chrysler 300. Naturally, if you want a sports car, look elsewhere. If you want a comfortable, easy-to-drive BIG car, look at the Five Hundred.

The exterior design is very nice, in a traditional, big, American car kind of way. Like the exterior of the Chrysler 300, it's almost love-it or hate-it. The Five Hundred has a very large greenhouse, making visibility wonderful. If you live anywhere south of the Mason-Dixon line, you'll probably want to get the windows tinted to cut down on heat in the summer. The trunk is supposed to be the largest in the world, and it looks like it. Plus the back seat folds down as well as the front passenger seat.

The interior is well laid out and the center stack is logical and not cluttered by too many extraneous buttons. The Limited has a 6 disc changer in the dash and programmable climate control. There are redundant radio control buttons on the steering wheel along with the cruise control. A wide and deep center storage compartment hides under the armrest. The rear seat has a fold down armrest as well, and it includes cup holders and a sizable storage compartment. Every door has a map pocket and bottle holder, and there is even a handy little compartment on top of the dash to throw stuff in. I've seen better quality leather, and it's not the squishy stuff they toss in a Lincoln Town Car, but it's comfortable and way better than cloth. I have the pebble colored interior, and the seats are never so hot it hurts to sit on them. The fact that they are heated makes them nice and toasty in the winter.

2006 Ford Five Hundred Limited 3.0

Summary:

It's a great car-spacious, comfortable, decent mileage, and built with safety in mind

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car.

General Comments:

I really like this car; it is easy to get in and out of, I like the command seating, I find the engine performance to be more than adequate, great stopping power with the 4 wheel disc brakes and is very comfortable. So far, I have taken this car on two road trips and was pleased with the ride, comfort and mileage. The trunk is very spacious; I have yet to put anything in the back seat because it wouldn't fit in the trunk. The heated seats are a nice touch in cold weather, and the heat and A/C do a great job in keeping me either toasty warm or pleasantly cool with the auto climate control. All the controls/buttons for various things are easy to find and use. I like the memory settings for the driver's seat, outside mirrors and adjustable pedals; with the touch of a button, everything moves to the correct position which makes it very nice when 2 drivers are very different in height. I like the security of the interior and exterior lights coming on when I push the unlock button on the key fob; I never have to approach a dark car at night. There is plenty of leg room in the back seat for even tall passengers; no "knees up under the chin" for anyone in the back seat.

I chose to add a few after market items to my car including a rear spoiler, chrome door handle covers, chrome taillight covers and a chrome trunk trim piece to jazz it up a bit and give it a sportier look.

It's been almost a year now that I've had my Limited; and I still love this car. It's done great with the snow/ice we've had lately with the front wheel drive, and those heated seats are wonderful in cold weather. The car handles well and drives like a dream. Anyone who has ridden in the back seat cannot get over the roominess and comfort; they have been impressed with it.

I took it on vacation that required a 10 hour drive to our destination; I didn't feel sore or tired when we arrived. The seats are very comfortable and offer good support. The optional navigation system is easy to use; it's nice to have when out of town.
