I would rather drive a moped

Faults:

My entire engine had to be replaced at 15,000 miles because of a major problem. Then the back left tire popped on me. I have already poured a ton of money into this craptastic piece of rubbish. If I someone ever asked me whether or not they should buy this car, I would suggest a good pair of Nikes instead. This thing SUCKS!

General Comments:

The color was pretty, but only cause I picked it out. Other then that I think that just about everything on, or in this car has generally annoyed me. I think this car must have been designed and put together by a bunch of retarded chimps. Unless you can get a profit on scraping the metal in this car, DON'T BUY IT!!!

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

Ford "luck" has never been in my family, but when I test drove the 2000 Mustang I wanted the transmission went out in it with the dealership guy in the car with me, test driving it, I knew for some reason I knew this wasn't the car for me.

You note several major component replacements (engine, tranny, etc.) that have been done without the desired effect. From that trend, I infer that you did not have specific problems, such as failure to start, engage gear, etc. Rather, I bet your car fell short in some more subjective category, such as perceived acceleration, or noise level. In cases where a customer approaches a dealer with vague, difficult to address problems, it is not unheard of for a dealer to respond by allowing large repairs as a sort of 'placebo.' Ford, as the manufacturer of the product, covers the expense involved in these warranty repairs. I'm curious to hear what happened to your old motor... I bet the dealer or his friend took it and put it in something else and it is running fine. The only other thing I would add, as a person who has owned several of these cars, is that for all their fine points they are still inexpensive, simple passenger cars. Noise, etc., are not inescapable in an inexpensive, simple design, and they don't necessarily indicate a problem. Simplicity of design is the rule for Mustangs, and they are not always particularly refined or sporty in feel. That's just the sad truth. You would probably do just fine in an Acura or a Hyundai Tiburon, which will probably match your expectations more closely.

Summary:

A bargain, if they can fix the clutch problem

Faults:

The clutch has gone out once and is showing signs of going out again. It rattles quite a bit when I release the pedal. The dealer cheerfully replaced the clutch after they diagnosed it at about 3000 miles, but about 3000 miles later it is going again. I have driven manual transmissions in three different cars over the past seven years and this is the only one to give me trouble. Ford has done something wrong here. Anybody else have this problem?

General Comments:

I love driving the car, wish I had the money to bump up to GT or Cobra, but for the base V6, it does quite well.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

I have had the same problem with my 95 V6. I am about to put my 3rd throw out bearing in the car with less than 70 K miles on the vehicle. The first one was replaced under warranty and was great for about 10K miles until it started chirping too. My last vehicle (also a Ford) had over 230 K miles with the original clutch so I do not think my driving habits are a factor. Obviously the factory parts are not doing the job? Can anyone recommend aftermarket parts which might be a bit better engineered than the overpriced OEM parts.
