2005 Honda Accord EX-V6 3.0L V6

Summary:

Great value with plenty of creature comforts

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Excellent power, especially considering the good gas mileage. Pulls well at all speeds.

Very well equipped car when fully loaded. It is basically under and entry-lux, but it has some features standard that are optional on much more expensive cars, such as the 6-disc in-dash CD changer.

Very spacious interior and large trunk. For an idea how big the trunk is, I couldn't fit a 20" TV in its box into the trunk, but it was just by a centimetre.

The interior is nicer looking and better put together than most cars in general, let alone its main competitors.

The car could be slightly quieter (engine, road noise from bumps) and the suspension could be slightly better, but these are minor points.

Traction control, ABS brakes, wide-set stance and fairly large tires make this car quite capable in Canadian winters.

The sun roof is confusingly small and the button is oddly located and not auto-open.

Gauge cluster and climate control (dual climate) are very bright (adjustable for night driving) and easy to read. A real pleasure to look at.

Odd to many, but just right for a Honda driver of many years, I love my sunroof switch right next to my left hand and would not want it to be anywhere else. The last thing I need is for my kids to open and close it while driving. My kids already like to shift the car into D3 or into neutral. I love where my switch is!!!

2005 Honda Accord LX / SE 3.0 V6

Summary:

Unfortunately, Honda is no longer "a Honda"!!!

Faults:

Very,very poor build quality...

Left exhaust 5/8" lower than right...

Left rear bumper cap 1/2" lower than right...

Left side wheel-well arch is 1/2" lower than the right side wheel-well arch (found out this is a common Acura/Honda phenomenon!!!)...

Trunk lid shifted left...

Left side of trunk lid 1/4" higher than right...

3 blemished under clearcoat (Nighthawk Blk paint)...

Poor body panel gap consistency (according to Honda N.A. they're within their tolerances)...

Rattle rt. side dash (2 attempted fixes by dealer)...

Rattle from rt.c-pillar (" " " ")...

General Comments:

Love the looks/profile of the car...

Great highway cruiser (except for the rattles)...

Averaging 24.3 mpg (mixed city/hwy)...

Best thing about this car is the 3.0 V6...

Handling/braking only average...

Have had it for almost 1 year, looking to switch into an '06 VW GTI with DSG (VW panel fitment is incredible)...

Have owned 10 Honda vehicles... the last 3-5 years I've seen a drastic drop in product Q/A.

Will cease my brand loyalty until Honda gets back to where they were 5 years ago.

Seems like you're very upset about gaps in panels measuring 1.2399732 nanometers. Are you kidding?

PS--So you're upset about invisible panel gaps, but you're willing to get into a VW? You have heard about their recent reliability problems, right? Kinda puts those panel gap thingees into perspective, huh?

You missed my 2 points:

1. Hondas are still great cars, they're just nowhere near the quality they used to be 3-5 years ago.

2. As far as the body panel fitment tolerances, I realize that I may be a bit more critical than 95% of the population.I remind myself that it's only a Honda, but that's what always made them such a great car... for the price of admission, you were always getting more than you paid for!!! That no longer applies even though it's still a great "deal" for most buyers. I guess panel inconsistencies are overlooked by most (sort of like pictures that are hung crooked).

2005 Honda Accord LX 3L V6

Summary:

Not what I expected from Honda Accord

Faults:

1. Hissing and squeaking noises from the power steering wheel have become more intense and objectionable. These noises could also be heard in the engine compartment from out side.

2. Earlier when I used to open the trunk using the remote keys without opening the car door lock, the passive alarm used to get activated. Now this phenomenon has become random. Sometime it dose and sometime it dose not and remains completely silent.

3. The remote key always used to make particular ‘indicator’ noises when used for both opening and closing the door locks. Now, sometime it dose not make that sound and remains mute.

4. When I take a left turn a squeaking noise appears from the front side of the car: as if something is loose in the suspension system or joints.

5. When climbing slopes if rpm goes to ~ 3000 rpm, sometime I get the smell of burnt oil. Is it normal with such a new car?

6. The driver side door makes rattling noises when the window is fully closed. If I open the window a little bit, the noise disappears.

7. Intermittent squeaking belt noise when the car remains in P and N gear.

General Comments:

Powerful and quick. Comfortable and spacious. But till now not happy because so many problem appeared and so soon.

I get the annoying, "6. The driver side door makes rattling noises when the window is fully closed. If I open the window a little bit, the noise disappears." I also get an intermittent "clink-clink" from the driver side, rear strut mount; possibly a poorly designed strut bearing. Other than this, I like my Accord. It's been easy to maintain over the last 30K miles: oil filter is accessible through the passenger side wheel well, drain plug is accessible without crawling under the vehicle, cabin filter is easily change, air filter requires a little finesse, and the brake pads are easy to inspect--though they do look a little more difficult to replace than necessary, we'll see. It's not exciting, but it works for me.

…. The dealer had replaced steering rack and hoses to eliminate the squeaking and hissing noise that was there before in my Honda Accord LX V6. Now there is no such noise. However two more problems are there for which I need to go again for mechanical servicing -

1. Squealing noise from the front suspension at low speed under little bumpy roads. The noise is more prominent why I take right turns. The noise does not appear if the outside temperature is far below zero and in cold rainy day. It seems something is tight in the suspension assembly.

2. When I turn my steering full right I get 2-3 mild ticking noises as if something is touching with the steering. This appears in both forward and reverse gear.

All other things are OK. The car is great in high speed. It goes easily to >90mph with ~ less than 3000 rpm. The insulation to reduce the engine noise is very good. The gas mileage is better that other V6 models.

I see you guys are having trouble with a noise coming from driver side window. But when you open it a little, it disappears. Easy solution, clean the tip of window and the slot from inside t which window closes into. Basically, dirt and salts gets inside there and jams the window in. When it grinds against it, it makes noise. By cleaning it and may be lubricating it, this problem will be solved. It did for me :)

Happy Accord driving.
