2006 Honda Accord EX-L 3.0

Summary:

From Civic to Accord...

Faults:

One morning on my way to work, a large white cloud of smoke came from under the hood; the smoke had burnt odor. The power steering hose broke and fluid was leaking onto the hot engine. Fixed that for $350.

Occasional issue with 3rd gear, so I researched and found common problems with 3rd gear on Accord V6's, Civic Si's, Acura TSXs, and TLs. Haven't gotten that taken care of, since I've learned how to work with it.

The door handle, where I hold to close the door from the inside, and the plastic power window cover, will separate over time if I am not careful with how I close the door.

My cruise control works randomly. I figured I had to jerk with the clutch or brake in order for it to work, but it'll quit working once I run over a rough bump.

I have a built-in navigation, and I do not like how I have to change the A/C setting using the navigation screen.

General Comments:

Other than the issues above, it's an amazing car.

FAST! 244 horsepower - imagine going from a Civic with 115 horsepower to 244! Zooooooooom!

LOVE the seat... the seats are definitely much more comfortable than the Civic. I was able to drive 20 hours to visit my family without complaining about how uncomfortable the trip was!

The trunk is about as large as my 2001 Civic.

I think my 1998 Civic was built better than my '01 Civic, but both Civics apparently were built better than my current Accord.

I miss the Civic's MPG, but the Accord isn't so bad considering the power I am getting.

I love how I can roll down the windows with the unlock button on the remote -- it helps on hot days, especially with BLACK leather upholstery!

Being a Washington, DC resident and parking on the streets - it can suck if the parking spots are all taken, or are too small for me to squeeze in.

But overall, I love my Accord!

Oh, I'd also like to add... It would also be so nice to have back-up camera installed in my Accord, since I park on the street... Anyone know how I can get that installed? Comment below. :)

Summary:

It's a great car, no complaints

Faults:

Literally nothing. My only issue was the material that is around the steering wheel started to come up on two corners. Seems to be a common problem, but I fixed it with a tiny dab of adhesive.

General Comments:

I love this car. I'm 57 years old and always bought American, usually Chevrolet or Buicks. But after watching my son hammer on his 1995 Honda Accord over a span of several years, going past 200,000 miles and then 300,000 miles, and hardly needing any repairs, I started to think maybe Honda really had a better car. I swear I did 10x the repairs to my wife's Blazer, and she drove 20% of the distance my son's Accord covered.

He still has that car, 360,000 miles and the engine and automatic trans are original, so is the A/C, alternator, power steering, all the power windows and locks still work. It boggles my mind.

So now I'm in a Accord and I love it. Honda use to have a slogan, isn't it nice when things just work. Well it is.

In the 2003-2007 series for Honda Accord... the 2006-2007 were the best of that design years... but finding one that has not been abused or been in a accident is hard to find... but if you find one, it will last along time... Also, the 2008-2009 Honda Civics were good for those years, but in a cheaper, smaller package...
