1999 Honda Civic DX 1.6

Summary:

Wow, civic are awesome cars!

Faults:

220,000 the battery

General Comments:

This car has over 220,000 and runs awesome, I put new 17" wheels and tires on it and it drives like an new car!

It drives good and responds quick.

It is very dependable and has great gas mileage. seats are narrow and thin, but I can live with it. and the two door is not for families and it is hard to get in the back!

1999 Honda Civic EX 1.6 SOHC

Summary:

Pefect for first time buyer, have to crawl before you learn how to walk

Faults:

This is my first car, its slow, but for a civic its not bad, the following things that are wrong with it are pretty small, other than that the main thing I love about this car is the ability to take a 40mph turn in it like nothing. I recommend first time student drivers to purchase one, they'll look cool driving it and parents won't have to worry about them racing and crashing since it only has 127 hp at the crank!

First thing I noticed was an irritating rattle by the back seat speakers still have not had it fixed.

Cruise control light went out.

Cup holders really suck, barely step on it and your drink is all over the floor.

Driver side window motor went out at about 85k miles.

Steering wheel is showing some pretty good wear, probably from the sun.

Some weather stripping on the drivers door and on the moon roof has fallen off or is getting ready to.

Other than that it's a-OK!

General Comments:

Some minor problems.

Handles pretty good for an economic vehicle.

1999 Honda Civic LX 1.6 Gas

Summary:

I'm horrible to it, I'm glad it still loves me

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car unexpectedly. But I have been stranded a number of times, just because I don't have time to fix it.

General Comments:

So far, I'm terrible to this car. I don't race it, but I don't take care of it either.

Everyone that reads this review will be terrified.

The first time I changed the oil was at 39,000 miles. Not 3,900. But that was at Jiffy Lube and they didn't fill it up with new oil, so I drove it until the second time, which was last month at 87,000 miles. Yeah, 48 THOUSAND miles on 1 quart of oil.

It shocked me that the car was still running. Not only that, it was running fine.

I just changed the air filter, 87,000 miles, and the brake fluid for the first time.

The car still has the original 7 year old: Spark Plugs, Battery, Transmission oil, Tires, and anything else I didn't list above.

Now that the scary part is over, I have to say that this car is great. I thought the car was dying (during the time it had 1 quart of oil), DUH, because the gas consumption was fairly high at 27 MPG. But I couldn't do anything about it. Well, needless to say, when I myself did the next oil change, it came back up to 40. It still purrs like it was new.

Currently it seems like only 2 of the 4 pistons are firing because of the spark plugs, but that will have to wait until I get another day off.

When all four pistons are firing, it's a quick car, but feels like my old Metro. A tin can.

I like this car a lot, it's been around my life for a while, and it's still going. I'm not sure how, but it is.

I'm glad I bought a Honda, because if I had anything else, it would have disintegrated under the same circumstances.

Oh My goodness... this just goes to show the reliability of Honda's. But why oh why did you drive for so long without an oil change?? That will kill any car.
