2002 Jaguar X-Type Sport 2.5

Summary:

Fantastic vehicle, fun to drive!

Faults:

Check Engine light comes on when it's extremely hot outside. The light will go off when heat subsides. This happened only 2 times when the temperature was over 102 degrees.

Broken trunk lifts. I have children using the trunk regularly and life in extreme temperatures ranging from -30 to 112 degrees. Cold weather makes plastic brittle, thus, the trunk lifts were broken when one of my children slammed the trunk shut.

Car went into 'limp mode' yesterday. This was the first time. It was -44 with wind chill. I drove the car home (10 miles) and parked it in the garage. This morning it started and runs like a new car again. Nothing works well in -44 degree weather.

General Comments:

Fabulous take off and handling. Great control, sporty. This has been a great car. I've owned it for four years and love it. I have had no problems. With regular maintenance such as oil changes, this car is fantastic. I love it!

Vehicle has been extremely sound running and reliable, it always starts, even in the winter. I didn't add a block heater, but do garage it.

Accidents can be extremely costly. I hit a pheasant on the road, it cost my insurance company nearly $3,000. My agent said most car deer accidents don't reach that mark.

Easy, smooth shifting.

Small bucket seats, larger people riding with me are sometimes uncomfortable and have difficulty buckling their seat belts. Average size or tall people are very comfortable. Seats are form fitting and have great support.

Back seat is roomy for children and average for adults. Taller people really require sitting in front.

Good size trunk. Basically the same as any other mid-size model on the market. Back seats fold down for larger or long items.

2002 Jaguar X-Type - Sport Track 3.0L

Spoiler cracked one day when I closed trunk.

Moon roof doesn't open.

Master Brake cylinder replaced - needs replaced again.

Check engine light came on again - 01/22/08.

Car idles very roughly.

Car drives down the road like a tank - you can feel every bump.

General Comments:

2002 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 - sport track.

Never, ever will I purchase a Jaguar again. I would rather live in peace and ride a bicycle and not have to worry about all the clinks/clanks/ and all the money that I threw out the window.

The car has been complete junk since I purchased the car. Every time I turn around there is another problem.

I'm so frustrated with the car I just want to take a match to it and watch it slowly melt to the ground.

I've called Jaguar many times and no-one will help or listen to me.

2002 Jaguar X-Type 2.5

Summary:

Disappointed, disgusted

Faults:

Engine Malfunction light still on after 5 trips and over $1000.00 to dealer.

I have taken my car back to the dealer (which car is still under warranty) 5 times and each time I am told something different. I have replaced gaskets, points, battery, emmission blown out and still within a day or two from leaving the dealership the light appears. My last visit I was told that it is the catalytic convertor and this would cost me an additional 1200.00. Needless to say, I am currently driving my car with the light on. I don't want to continue to pay for someone apparently guessing at what is wrong.

General Comments:

I love the look of the car. I have always wanted to own a Jaguar. However, I have always purchased a new vehicle about every 5 years and have never experienced this kind of a problem where the dealership or warranty will not help.
