2002 Jaguar X-Type 2.5

Summary:

Trash

Faults:

My mom's 2002 Jaguar X-Type 2.5 was bought new in 2002. There have been many problems so far (dashboard clips, power steering repairs, all wheel-drive repairs, etc.) and now the transmission is out and the car has only 21,000 miles on it. The dealer wants $6000 for a new transmission. What a piece of garbage!

2002 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 Sports

Summary:

I would never buy a Jaguar. It is an expensive car and you expect good quality

Faults:

After driving my car for 2000 miles I had to take it to the dealer for a check engine light. It took me 3 more visits to get the car fix.

The first year, I made several complains due to squeaky noises coming from the front brakes, soon after 10,000 mile, I was told to replace the brakes spend $1,200

At 22,000 miles took the car back for a fuel tank replacement

At 43,000 miles car overheated (towed) due to a faulty thermostat

The front speaker no longer works, I will cost me $900 to replace speaker.

At 56,900 miles had to replace my transmission $ 5600 to fix.

General Comments:

There are so many complains about Jaguar Transmissions, this is safety issue.. Honda had a similar incident a few years back with less complains and offered a Voluntary Transmission Recall to Certain Honda and Acura Automobiles.

2002 Jaguar X-Type

Summary:

Horrible!!

Faults:

2002 Jag X type is the worst car on the market. I can't even begin to tell you the problems I've had with that car in one year. Transmission was the biggest problem at 30,000 miles then locks, then the sun/moon roof just before getting rid of the nightmare the throtle sensor was about to go. My advice to anyone get rid of the car ASAP, things will keep going wrong.

The resale on this car is the worst!! all I can say is I strongly warn anyone NOT to get this car.

2002 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 3.0L V6

Summary:

It should have a recall for this transmission

Faults:

I own a 2002 Jaguar X-Type 3.0L automatic.

I received a gearbox fault while I was driving back home, which is a little off two hours away. Half way the fault came on, the car jerked and luckily the transmission didn't go completely. I stopped the car, turned it off and referred to my manual. Well after I noticed that nothing really said anything about it in the manual, I decided to try to drive it again. It started to accelerate, but slowly as if I were starting off in second or third gear. The shop informed me I have to replace my entire transmission.

Need new suspension as well. Shocks are done.

General Comments:

Great car aside from these transmission problems; definitely think a recall should be made on the 02/up X-Type automatic Jaguars.

2002 Jaguar X-Type 3.0L

Summary:

Excellent Jaguar engineering

Faults:

I have loved this car from the moment I bought it. I bought the 3L engine which makes a big dfference in the accleration. The only problems I have had with the car is the transmission which went at 10,000 miles, but the dealership repaired it at no cost to me (although it took 45 days to get the replacement parts). The car does seem to have electronics problems now and then, but at 94,000 miles, I've been very happy.

2002 Jaguar X-Type

Summary:

Excellent!

Faults:

Nothing!

General Comments:

This is a superb car among others in its class.

The build quality is outstanding: real wood, real leather, fit and finish inside and out are excellent. Trunk capacity is excellent.

The car is solid and holds the road like nothing else. The BMW 3 Series cannot compete, and I made a direct comparison before purchase, as well as having owned a 3 Series.

The engine is powerful and the manual shift smooth; combined with the handling of the all-wheel-drive, it is unbeatable.

All the elegance of a Jaguar, and styling which does not change from year to year; it just looks good.

The climate control in this X-Type is wonderful!

So good that we have two of them!
