1987 Nissan Hardbody Pickup 4x4 SE 3.0 V6

Summary:

Best "bang for the buck" purchase in my life

Faults:

At 13 months, the power window on the driver's side quit working. Nissan replaced it at no cost, even though it was 1 month over the warranty.

Oil pressure gauge never worked, even though it was replaced once.

Replaced drive shaft twice.

Rusted fenders and box.

Driver's cloth seat worn right thru.

Single lifter tapping away for the last 100k kilometers.

Changed plugs and air filter 155000 kilometers ago, and still passes BC air care easily every year.

I have owned about 15 vehicles since I started driving in 1963, and this is by far the very best vehicle I've ever owned.

Absolutely no complaints, and I'm still in love with this truck even after 26 years.

Fits like a glove.

1987 Nissan Hardbody Pickup 2.4 petrol

Summary:

Keeping it 'till the wheels fall off...

Faults:

Speedometer is reading 10km/h above actual speed.

General Comments:

It's a great little truck. I am a handyman so I often have to truck away yard/construction waste as well as heavy appliances. While this truck is not very powerful, it has not let me down at all.

The Extended cab is great as I get to keep most of my tools in the back if I need the box for cargo.

My friend is over 6 feet, and he finds it comfy enough to drive.

My company bought about 60 of those Hardbodies back in the 80s. No radio, no air, 2.4 engine, all blue, automatic transmissions. Very basic trucks.

The abuse those trucks took from the field workers, was in one word, crazy. They ran those things into buildings, cement poles, other vehicles, walls, concrete barriers, telephone poles, you name it, they ran into it or over it. But those trucks wouldn't die, no matter what was done to them... they kept running and running.

The company finally auctioned them off for peanuts. Most of them were running good, and could have run another 20 years. They then ended up replacing them with Ford Rangers, which weren't bad trucks, but were slower (V-6), harder to drive in tighter spots, and even though they were bigger extra cabs... had very little room inside. But that is progress for you.

Summary:

The best trucks under the sun

Faults:

Ohio Nissan truck bought January 2011.

This truck's exhaust fell off a few months after I bought it.

The locks don't work.

It had an oil leak that dripped on the starter. It used to have a grinding sometimes when I turned the key. I would back off and repeat until it started normal. After fixing the leaks, the problem has gone for now.

Heat barely works. Have to crack windows down in winter, or the windows fog up.

The brakes needed worked.

Rotted lines.

Body and bed are beat up and not level... sweet.

General Comments:

These old Nissan trucks rule.

It is a red, beat up, 1987 big cab Nissan 4x4 truck.

I have owned three Nissan Pathfinders. A gray 1995, a blue 1988, and a red 1986.

I still own the 88 Pathfinder. It is beat up and rotting from six years of off roading, and it's been sitting for two years, but it will be back.

The other two Pathfinders were scrapped without my full consent.

The 1987 Nissan truck was a worthy off roader to take over after the 88 Pathfinder went to sleep in the yard.

1987 Nissan Hardbody Pickup 3.0L V6

Summary:

This thing is one excellent machine!!

Faults:

Fuel pump went, easy fix.

Starter problems, even easier fix.

Speedometer cable broke about 7-8 months ago, so the mileage stopped going up, so I couldn't really say exactly where it's at, but for surely over 200k.

General Comments:

I beat this thing so hard, that if it was a Ford, it would be in a shambles right now.

Rotted exhaust pipe lets everyone know I'm on my way, and it sounds great.

On or off road, this thing runs like a clock. It was my first vehicle ever, and I will run this thing into the ground; definitely will take a while.

Overall, I have been completely satisfied in the durability and good times I've gotten out of this truck. Great buy, definitely.
