1984 Pontiac 6000 LE Wagon 2.8 liter V6

Summary:

Pontiac 6000s are built to last so don't give up

Faults:

I really can't say anything has gone wrong with the car. They are just regular thing that needed to be changed and repaired like tires, radiator, tune up's and and rusted out doors, and it has a little trouble starting in the winter.

But it gets us around. Even though we are below a budget of $800.00 a month, this car is worth spending on.

General Comments:

At first when I bought it my grandson didn't like it, but over the years he has fallen in love with the car and enjoys working on the car even when it is his money paying to fix it up nicely.

I was surprised when someone asked me if the car was new and tried to make me an ofter for $5,000.00. I said no, it's been sold to my grandson.

My 16 and a half, going on 17 year old Pontiac 6000 LE Wagon is the best car that we have ever bought. I know since people I don't know keep bugging me about it.

The car is in great shape and runs like new. It drives great with 100% light power steering in the winter and summer. I can even fit at least 8-9 people in this vehicle while driving without problems with gas or feeling uncomfortable.

The front wheel drive has gotten me out of a lot of trouble even in mud when I could have been stuck.

I know my grandson wouldn't give up on his future car (Pontiac) and I hope no who owns a Pontiac does. If my grandson was working with the GM company he would start building the Pontiac 6000's again. We hope these people who are working with the GM company think about building them again I am sure a lot of people would too cause I know I do. I would tell them but I don't know how to get the message to them but I hope someone does.

Hard starting in the winter is common for the 84 Pontiac 6000LE. They were tough to start even when new, on a very cold day. Eventually my 6000LE carburetor dribbled in gas when cold and would not idle on a cold day. Once it warmed up, it was great! Note that G.M. had a heater plate installed in base of the carb. That should tell you something about their design. I had my original carb rebuilt. The rebuild was NO GOOD and a new one cost far more than the book value!

The best part of the car was the y99 handling package.

Car had about 175,000 miles on it.

The car will be donated to charity. The last $1000 in that car just killed me.

1984 Pontiac 6000 STE 2.8L High Output V6

Faults:

Left high beam bulb.

Left rear window goes down only half way.

Some sun caused tears to the rear seat headrests.

Brakes.

Shocks.

Air filter.

General Comments:

This car is 16 years old and in outstanding condition.

It has an electronic system check display that will tell you exactly what is wrong with the car when ever the key is in the ignition. On the system check it will also tell you how many miles you can go until you need a tune up, rotate tires, change oil and or filter, etc.

The interior other than a few tears in the seats is beautiful, shines like new along with all digital panels.

Finger light power steering, extremely responsive and great handling. Its high output V6 @ 165hp and front wheel drive gives me great drag race ability, with all stock parts. This car is faster than Honda Civic EX, Honda Accord EX, Pontiac Sunfire GT, and Toyota Supra.

Hi, I just bought an '84 6000 STE from my girlfriend's father for 5 hundred bucks. it has 100 thousand miles on it, but it runs beautifully. there is no rust, and it has to be the coolest car on the planet. the stock speakers sound awesome (although I'm sure they have never been blasted) and there are just so many luxury items. these seats too have some rips in them, the inflating device in the trunk doesn't work, no AC, and the ceiling is starting to hang down in a few spots, but other than that, it is an awesome ride. the car is the basic early '80s gray, but is in outstanding condition. I'm not used to a smaller steering wheel, or that much speed either.. hahaha, it is a very fast little car!
