1999 Toyota Camry LX

Summary:

I love my '99 Camry

Faults:

At 120K miles, the rear oxygen sensor went bad. Oxygen Sensors are supposed to be replaced every 60-100K miles, depending on the quality.

At 85K miles, the clock started disappearing. At about 110K miles, it completely went.

General Comments:

I bought this car from my mother at 45K miles back in August 2003. I've since put almost 100K and it is almost 3 years later. I did a lot of weekend trips from Middletown CT to Boston MA (600-mile round-trip) and trips to SW CT (150-mile RT). My bf treats it like a truck, putting his construction tools and materials in the trunk and floor of the backseat, putting tons of weight on it (around 100 pounds at a time). Most of the issues I have with my car were not because of my car, but of people - my dad was rotating my tires and the jack dropped, dropping the car on the strut, which had to be replaced. Comfort is less because my tire treads are gone (good Michelins lasted me as long as I've had the car - 90K miles on a 60K mile tire - AWESOME). I live in the NE, so we get lots of snow and rain, and this car drives like a champ - handles really well in bad weather. Even though my car is getting old, I have no complaints. All the issues I'm having is because the car has lots of miles - it's not a new car and shouldn't be treated like one. I recently switched to synthetic oil, since it's over 100K, and gas consumption is good (about 25-28 mpg). Even with bad oxygen sensors and extra weight, the gas consumption is good. O2 Sensors are expensive to get done, but once I do that ($450) and get new tires (about $300 at Costco for good Michelins), I'll be set for another 100K miles.

1999 Toyota Camry LE

Summary:

Toyota still makes the best cars

Faults:

My 1999 Camry check engine lights came on - I had to replace the sensor to the engine and now the TRAC OFF light is on and will not go out - I took it to the dealer and whoa!!! 800.00.

1999 Toyota Camry CE Standard 2.2L

Summary:

Reliable, Affordable, Cheap, Good on Gas

Faults:

I've had this car since 1999, from when it only had 16 miles on it. Not once have I ever had to take it in for repairs. I also have a 1999 Solara SLE. No problems either. The car is NOT garaged and can sit for weeks, and the engine will still kick over. NO problems with this car, ever.

General Comments:

The car is stripped. it is a CE so I bought it just to get me around, I only requested power windows and door locks, that's the only option in it. The car runs great, I have never had a problem with it, and it's a wonderful first car, for teenagers, its cheap and it will never die.

1999 Toyota Camry LE 4 Cylinder

Summary:

My Camry LE is reliable, comfortable, smooth riding, and all-in-all a great car!

Faults:

I've had no problems with the vehicle at all, probably in part due to the extremely low mileage. I've only had to do routine maintenance (fluid and filter changes)so far.

General Comments:

This is the best car I've ever owned. Very roomy interior. It's a four-door sedan with a/c, power moon roof, power windows and locks, power adjustable driver's seat, tilt steering wheel. Runs very smoothly when in motion, but I do notice a bit of roughness on idle. The ride is great, though road noise is noticeable if you;'re running without the radio or CD player on (I've had worse, like an early 90's Corolla, so it really seems relatively quiet to me).

1999 Toyota Camry CE 2.2 liter

Summary:

Great car for the daily uses

Faults:

Nothing...

General Comments:

Great car, not much can be said about it, good comfort, good performance, it is a pretty quick car for a 2.2 liter 4 cylinder engine, also great milege.

Handles nice, brakes are really tight, no ABS so if you brake hard enough you'll fly out threw the windshield.
