1987 Acura Integra LS 1.6L DOHC from North America

Summary:

The car enjoys redlining, 2nd shifting into 3rd (sounds great)

Faults:

About a month after I purchased the car, the car started to smell like gas. I took it to a repair shop; they said the seals around the fuel injectors had to be replaced, so I paid the 100 to have them replaced, only to have them tell me that it might be the fuel injectors themselves.

Anyways.. Having the seals replaced did make the injector leak less noticeable, unless the car is sitting in one spot for an extended period of time.

I did normal maintenance by myself; belts, top off fluids and such.

The muffler pipe, from the catalytic converter, all the way back to the muffler, had a crack in it when I got it.. So I didn't have to drop 500 for an exhaust system; my car sounds like it has one for free.

The interior is not great, but I bought it for 1000, put less than 500 into it, and it's great.

General Comments:

This car is ridiculous. My cousin has a 99 Dodge Neon R/T (was I supposed to be scared a Neon? I figured the head gasket would go before the end of the 1/4 mile haha). My car was manual, so was his, so we go, he beats me off the line (which I expected).. So in the end, he did beat my Integra by less than half a car's length.. which is quite sad, considering in miles my car has been around the world 4 more times than his, and he's got 30 more hp.

Another reason why it's ridiculous; my Mom's car was stolen.. It was a 93 Lumina. The kid tried to bring it back that night, so I chased him in my Integra. He eventually just kinda rolled out of the Lumina going about 10, only because he couldn't lose me in my Integra.

I love this car. I would so keep it if it didn't have so many little things to be done. It needs new tires, interior work, minor engine work, and a new clutch soon, but I would never steer anyone away from buying one if you've got the money to drop into it.

Most reliable car ever. Starts every day (and I live in Buffalo NY; it gets a bit cold in winter).

I could go on all day, but I'm just gonna stop.

Your review encouraged me to put more effort into my 1987 Acura Integra LS. I realized that my Integra means a lot to me even though there are some set backs. You made a good point about the seals for your fuel injectors. I would like to ask you a couple questions about the car, contact me at BrandonBraley@yahoo.com. Thank you.

Brandon.

Summary:

Cheap and Reliable!!!

Faults:

Driver's window does not work.

Starter replaced at 174000 miles

Mysterious leak in floor of drivers side when it rains.

General Comments:

I like this car because it is cheap and reliable. It runs like a car that is 10 years younger. I will be surprised if I cannot get 250,000 miles out of this car.

1987 Acura Integra RS 1.6 from North America

Summary:

A great little car

Faults:

I had to replace the alternator.

I had to replace the left axle.

I had to replace an idler pulley for the air conditioner.

All with in the last 2 years, probably around 150000 miles.

General Comments:

This has been an excellent car.

I would like to find another as this one is getting many miles on it.

Performance is average and handling is good.

Lots of room in the back seat and hatchback and fold down rear seats make for a lot of extra room to haul groceries, etc.
