OK people. Let me break it down for you. Very simple. I own a 96 Z28, I used to have a 98 z28. My friend drives a 2000 Acura Integra GSX (and I hang with all of his friends that are in an import car club). Very close to the same stock horsepower rating as a Type-R. He has EVERY bolt on you can imagine (about 4,000) worth. He did nothing, but talk trash. So we raced, his acura against my Stock Z. I'm not talking trash, but his jaw dropped when I beat him (very badly). My brother was riding with him when we raced (I had two people in mine to make it fair) and my brother said all he kept saying was holy s***. He just recently bought a 8lb Supercharger for his Acura and wanted a rematch. Since then, I added a exhaust and headers..that's it. So we raced again and you know what? I beat him even worse than the first time. I used to own a 96 prelude vtec and have to say they are reliable and QUICK, but be realistic guys, seriously. His supercharger on the dyno gave him 60 more horse. My headers ALONE gave me 28 on the dyno. All of this talk is ridiculous. Everyone in here that claims to have a street legal 4 cyclinder that is faster than an 8 is just plain silly. And as far as the comment on HP per liter...that's great... but it's faulty thinking. HP does not make you fast. Torque is the moving force in cars, HP is potential and all you have to do is simple math... Torque per pound of the car, not HP Per liter... VERY EASY MATH PEOPLE. And how you still have guys claiming you can make a four faster than you can make an 8 is so dumb. You can do EVERYHTING to the 8's you can to the 4's, but you have more cyclinders. When is the last time you seen a four cyclinder in any pro street competitions? And if you want to talk track times... look at you acura circuit track time and then compare them to the corvette? Even car and driver said the camaro handles better than the porsche carrera, this is fact... look it up.

Ridiculous, the speed limit in US is 65-70 mph. Coops are guarding it; discuss better speeding tickets evasion :) There is no need for mega high power, except traffic light starts. But hybrid is good and smart for high torque; High power is needed on a good asphalt road in Germany "no speed limit for a free country".

So, the handling in mountains is important, straight asphalt racing is meaningless. Mustang can drive well only with concrete blocks inside the trunk on the snow road in Ohio, because of really bad balance. It is a car, which was once was manufactured with 4 to 8 cylinders! More than twice difference in engine volume :) The ultimate performance tires can improve the handling, but why nobody on the mustang side discuss the tires (?) because the tires do not really matter for the straight drive on the dry road?

I'm sorry if anyone doesn't agree. but it is all about torque. and weight. and aerodynamics. and how well the driver can actually drive. some people can't take off of the line. others can't take coroners. some people that think they can race really can't. but if you do want a car that gets good gas millage cheap to repair if something does brake or what ever buy a 2000 integer type-r if you like the nice sounding, throw you in the back seat, not so good gas millage then buy a 2000 mustang cobra.just buy what you like and don't give a damn about what every one else thinks. but I'm sure that this conversation will go on for a long time, because every on has their own opinions. but just remember that theres always someone out there that's better. in drag, in auto-X (cross), or WRC.

Blah blah blah muscle cars go well in a straight line and japanese cars take a corner well, there is no point comparing the two we r all different I have both japanese and american and they both live on different platforms now about mods wouldn't it be easier just to buy it fast and then spent the rest of your time with minor tweeks eg suspension.

I agree with the last 2 comments. weight and torque are both very important. and yes an american v8 can more than likely take out a import v4. if we are running a spoon spoon engine with a light aluminum cam shaft with a nice aftermarket turbo with an aftermarket intercooler. with excellent tuning, the torque pumping out of that type-r will kill. I have seen many races and many crashes, but only on the street racing level. mustangs can't handle at all and I have seen them hit walls and crumble like they are nothing. in the same situation will have a better chance of avoiding that danger (the driver must also be taken into consideration). if anyone has seen a circuit street race then they can see the big differance between american and import, the legal and illegal. all I can say is that I'm asian and I run nothing, but imports. I know how to work on them and how to make them fast and push out a lot of torque. any car can become fast with the right person working on it and the right amount of cash.

The type R is one of the most bad ass cars ever made... period. Also I would love to see chevy or ford try to make a ALL MOTOR 4 banger put out 240hp like the s2000. See what happen when Chevy trys to make a sport compact car? The cobalt SS only makes 205hp and its supercharged haha. The type R makes slightly less all motor. Also... If Honda made a v8 (besides f1), it would put any chevy, Ford, etc. v8 to shame. Imagine 2 type R heads on a big block v8. But Honda/Acura doesn't need a v8 to be fast, they have N/A 4 cylinders doing a better job all the way around.
