1992 Acura Legend LS 4Dr Sedan from North America

Summary:

It was a lemon.

Faults:

Cracked and worn leather seats.

Engine overheats.

Blown thermostat x2.

Hole in radiator.

Sprays Anti-freeze.

Short in power window wiring.

Brake problems.

General Comments:

I purchased the car in Wisconsin and was moving to Pennsylvania due to being in the military. On the trip to PA the engine started to overheat. I actually had to stop in Ohio and get it checked out originally. Compression tests and coolent checks were run on the engine. The mechanic said he didn't find anything abnormal, but replaced the thermostat anyway, just in case. The diagnostics and thermostat ran me almost $150. The car started to overheat again another hour into the journey and I eventually had to stop and just give up, turns out there was a hole in the radiator. Dropped over $700 to replace the radiator and thermostat again. The car still overheats and sprays anti-freeze from somewhere in the engine. The car also now lurches, pulls and sounds like a diesel semi-truck. Roughly diagnosed per a description as possibly either a dropped cylinder or a blown gasket.

Also the ABS went out and now the brakes squeak for no apparent reason.

The window are also stuck down as well due to faulty wiring. The fuses were all checked and one door was taken apart, but I could not find the problem. So who knows whats wrong with that.

The car drove and handled well with a smooth ride, but all of the problems counter anything and everything possibly good with this vehicle.

Overall I did not like this car and would not recommend it to anyone.

Ford builds lemons that are brand new and Honda has lemons that are 16 years old and that are close to 200,000 miles. What is your deal? If anything I have seen more legends with over 300,000 miles than any other V6 car.

Sorry to hear about your luck when it came to getting your car correctly diagnosed. sounds like the good US of A needs a better trainng program when it comes to there techs.

21:07 Honda builds lemons brand new, and Ford builds great ones. Why not buy a brand new Ford and trade this old troublesome import.

Apparently you bought a car with a leaking radiator, leaking hoses, and probably a blown headgasket. Any car would behave the same if it was beat on to that extent. So when you say you would not recommend it, I hope you mean that you would not recommend people buy any car that has the problems you bought yours with.

1992 Acura Legend LS 4D 3.2L from North America

Summary:

Luxurious, Fast Tank

Faults:

A/C Compressor blew.

Brakes.

Seat leather cracked and faded.

Gas line corroded.

Coil Igniter.

CV Joint wore out.

Antenna mast/motor needed replacement.

General Comments:

A very comfortable car -- very powerful.

Expensive to maintain -- but a real joy to drive.

Built like a tank -- very solid -- quality is evident everywhere.

I was planning on driving this car to over 200k miles, but was forced to give it up after the car was rear ended at 35 mph -- the car took the crash well. Couldn't find another I wanted to buy.
