I have a 1990 Acura Legend V6L with 150k miles, the transmission is slipping, I have been told by two repair shops I need a new transmission, cost is $2k to $3k, Should I replace it or buy a new car?

I have a 1990 V6 LS sedan. It's a 5 speed and has 190k on it, and the only problems I've had are minor leaks and valve clicking, which is normal for these cars.

Personally, I would repair it, from what I'm seeing, the value on first generation Legends is raising significantly. You would most likely regret it in a few years if you sold it.

Hard to imagine these being considered collectible given how many millions were produced.

I fear the comment you were replying to was posted slightly over 10 years ago. That specific vehicle must have been now long recycled into fresh metal; maybe you are actually even holding a little bit of it in your soda can you may be enjoying right now.

I had one brand new as a company car. One of the best cars I ever had. We got new cars every few years. No warranty returns, just routine maintenance. Very reliable, never let me down. I believe the best reviews are ones that had new cars as company car users. No bias, no money invested. If you get a lemon you will flat out tell it as it is. Not sheepish or remorse buying. This was a long time ago. The other good cars then were the new 90 Bonneville and 6000. I somehow got a new Legend as my sales numbers were really good.

Yeah, classics like the 911, Corvette, Mustang, and Type 1 Beetle were never popular cars when new...

You must be joking. The first 64 1/2 Mustang was huge. Anticipation enormous. I was there. Even the new C8 Corvette with long waiting lists up to 2 year waiting list deposits. Porsche has up to a 2 year waiting list on some models. Including my own. You are absolutely dreaming.
