"Old school pocket rocket"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Clutch, suspension, struts, bushings and ball joints etc. at 80,000.

Injectors, timing belt, water pump, fuel pump at 120,000.

Suspension, bushings and ball joints at 192,000.

Two exhausts and one cat.

General comments?

This car has always been a strong runner. I was told the MG on the engine number is one of the best/reliable engines Audi/VW made. This car is better than the quattro model.

I have a '87 4000cs Quattro in my parents garage, in pieces.

I recently purchase a 1987 Audi 4000s and you are right it is a great car. I love being able to pull up to a modified onda and just leave them in the dust with my german sport sedan. It is one of the best cars I have ever owened and I only paid $200.00 for it on EBAY. I would reccomend this car to any one that liked Germnan cars although they might not be able to find one. It is a true GERMAN SPORTS SEDAN.

Yes I just completed the rebuild on a 86 4000S after 201,000 miles. Just started driving again

could use new shocks only item I did not replace during this rebuild. Will start using synthetic oil in 600 miles.

Just about to purchase a 86 4000s. I was wondering if anyone know how to get more power from this engine. Is there any good bolt-on parts to gain horse power? This is for after I replace the clutch and shocks. Hey, for 100 dollars I think I'm getting a pretty good deal on a running car that leaks no oil. Oh yeah, do they make body kits for this car? Can I fit the 87 or 88 body parts on a 86 (headlights, tail-lights, grille and fenders). The car I'm purchasing, the body is fine but I'd like to make some changes. Thanks.
