"idiots deserving their fate"?
You mean, the ones who post reviews here with titles that brand a particular model a "lemon" that will be nothing but trouble for anyone who buys one? Then you read the "review" and find out they just bought the car used, with high miles or many years on it, usually both, and then they got mad because something didn't work, or stopped working, or the car needed maintenance that it didn't get from previous owner(s), so they blame the manufacturer.
Those idiots?

And it will keep getting repeated. We know of cars or brands that statistically, will (or should) not hold up much longer. But many do, and most people don't know about this site. It isn't inevitable that every single one (or even 1 out of 2) will meet the same fate. Renault, Peugeot and Fiat have not been renowned for reliability, and assuming that most reasonable people (or bean counters - for company cars) aren't dumb enough to put themselves through that misery again, there must be enough of these cars that either last the distance, don't really break down much, or are cheap enough to put right, that they buy again. It's the OP's review, and if they feel that diligent maintenance is what got them there, that's for them to say.

Very well said. This site is quiet, but many of the other car review websites I look at (at-least here in the UK) such as Parkers, AutoTrader, Honest John, etc reflect what is said on here.
No one buys a used car expecting it to be perfect, but at the same time, if they (like me) owned many cars from the 1980's and onwards that were relatively trouble free at high mileage, I totally get why many reviews are appearing on here (and elsewhere) about the internet criticizing why modern cars (which I would say anything from year 2000 onwards is modern) are failing early even with good maintenance. Take for example the recent Ford reviews - everyone knows the engines with the infamous "wet-belt" are ones to avoid new or used. A quick search on YouTube or just about anywhere else confirms it, not just on here. There is no defending them even if you are a Ford fan or not.
And as always with any reviews online, do look for genuine patterns (good or bad about any car), do as much research as possible, and take the extremely exaggerated negative (or positive) reviews of any car with a pinch of salt.

I actually wrote this review. No, I'm not busting my arm patting myself on the back, declaring myself a hero and accusing others as idiots.
This Buick belonged to my elderly parents who always put their trust in me to maintain and repair their vehicles in the past, as opposed to them getting ripped off or cheated by others.
