1984 Buick LeSabre Custom Limited Olds 307 5.0L V8 from North America

Summary:

Well built in every way

Faults:

Windshield is cracked up badly, cracks in dash cover, headliner sags, blinkers do not work, radio does not work, windows roll down slow, hard to unlock from outside, trunk does not close unless slammed, one wheel is smaller then the rest, and no paint.

General Comments:

I bought this car for $500 and I was going to use it for parts, but decided to restore it. It does run great and drive good, but it does need restoring like the paint and things. I do like this car though the pillow seats are really comfortable and it starts right up with no problems at all. And once driving it you feel like your driving a couch.

1984 Buick LeSabre from North America

Summary:

Loved it, very reliable

Faults:

Nothing out of the ordinary. I replaced the oil every 6 months or so, had brakes installed once, replaced the battery, replaced all the tires and the windshield wiper motor went out.

General Comments:

I brought this car from my best friend's family. Her great-uncle passed away, and he literally used this car only to go to the grocery store for almost 20 years.

The car was in pristine shape when I got it -- the previous owner had kept every bill of everything he had done to the car, so it ran like a dream. He had a box full of wax and cleaning materials, and it was in like-new condition. Amazing.

I think the car had a heart attack when I took it to Vermont for the first time, but I was able to carry myself, three of my good friends, and all of our snowboards and gear in the trunk with no issue. The car was a tank, and although it did not handle snow very well and only got about 17 miles to the gallon (no worse than an SUV, in my opinion), she was a reliable and dependable ride that was fully paid for, and I planned to keep as long as possible. Unfortunately, I am attending college in Newark, New Jersey and it was stolen. Unbelievable -- I never saw this coming.

Anyhow, if you find one of these cars in good shape, I highly recommend it. Plus most guys were very excited about this car, which was a plus for single woman!

1984 Buick LeSabre Limited Coupe 307 Olds from North America

Summary:

My first car, and hopefully my next!

Faults:

History: My grandmother bought it off a friend and later passed it on to my father who in turn gave it to me as my first car.

Transmission rebuild at 105,000 miles.

2 cylinders dropped shortly before selling the car.

Floor boards were rusting through.

General Comments:

The only thing I would change is the way I treated it since it was my first car.

This car was a tank. While the 307 Olds wasn't the best suitable engine for this car in my opinion, it did hold it's own going up against anything my friends had. It survived many races in the school parking lot as well as nose to nose push battles.

Car was hit 1 day after getting a new paint job in 98/99. Parts were so common that it was fixed and repainted within 4 days.
