1990 Buick LeSabre Limited 3.8 from North America

Summary:

I would not suggest this car to anyone; the parts are way too expensive

Faults:

Ignition coil and module went bad two months after purchase.

EGR valve went bad one month later.

Started leaking oil at 167000.

General Comments:

This car rides decent and is very comfortable and roomy.

However the parts for this car are very expensive.

The coil and module were right at $200.

The EGR valve was $280.

Another thing that disappointed me was that it for a V6 it was very weak.

I own a 1990 LeSabre and it runs beautifully. The parts are NOT expensive and I have never had it break down like other cars. The 3.8 liter V6 also just keeps on going and does NOT leak oil! You have got to change the review now!!!

I purchased a 1990 Lesabre in 2000 with 87,000 miles already on it. Keeping the maintenance up on the car is all I have had to do (except for replacing an alternator) in the 5 years that I've owned the car. In my opinion it's a great car. I've never had a car that was so dependable and safe to drive. Right now there is 187,000 miles on the car and still going strong. It's mainly driven up and down mountains where I clean houses. Anytime we go anywhere we take the Lesabre.

1990 Buick LeSabre Limited 3.8 V6 from North America

Summary:

A excellent car

Faults:

My brakes were replaced.

I put a new alternator on.

The starter was replaced.

I replaced the struts, and the coil springs all the way around.

The radio quit.

The muffler went bad.

I was having trouble with the car starting when it got below freezing. It would always start when it was plugged in. I found that the ECM was reading the wrong temperature specs. I replaced the ECM and the car started any time, any temperature.

The EGR valve is bad now. It is really expensive to replace.

General Comments:

I love the LeSabre. It really has been a good car. It never not once left me on the side of the road. The seats are worn out now. It is still comfortable, even with 385000 plus km on it.

I am thinking about moving up into a 1997 LeSabre. But people say that they are not as good, due to the plastic intakes, so I am a bit worried.

I have a 1995 Buick Regal. I don't drive it. It is not as dependable as the LeSabre.

Nothing has been done to the motor, or the transmission. I change the fluids once in a while. I would recommend a car like this to anyone.

1990 Buick LeSabre 3.8 V6 from North America

Summary:

Keeps on going, and going, and going

Faults:

Battery at 180,000 miles

Starter at 180,000 miles

Drum Brake Cylinder at 207,000 miles.

General Comments:

Everything is original on this car, including the muffler and altenator. I have done nothing to this car except for your usual tune-up. The only mechanical problem the car has are the power windows in the front which operate, but very slowly. After 13 years and 207,000 miles it can still spin the tires from a dead stop.

1990 Buick LeSabre limited 3.8 from North America

Summary:

Great

Faults:

NO problems at all.

General Comments:

This is my twenty-second car and it's the best one I ever had. It passed the emissions test clean with flying colors. In fact the only thing I've had too pay for is gas and oil changes. I drive the car long range all the time. At least 600 miles a trip every 2 to 3 months. I don't have a problem with cold starts and it gets cold in "The Windy City". It gets good gas mileage approximately 521 miles per full tank of gas. Very smooth ride and on demand acceleration. The sound system is clean and crisp. Overall its the best car GM made in that time period.
