2002 Buick LeSabre limited 6 cylinder from North America

Summary:

I love this car, but am going to trade it to another mercury

Faults:

I have replaced two rear window regulators and my car is in the house garage now as the front passenger window failed to roll up yesterday.

The material on my console is tearing away--peeling off.

General Comments:

I love the ride and comfort.

Tired of replacing the window regulators.

Will never own another Buick if GM doesn't step in and do a recall on the windows.

2002 Buick LeSabre Limited V6 from North America

Summary:

Above average till things start going wrong.

Faults:

I like many before me have a drivers side rear window drop. Like many other's its hardly been used. My wife and I have no kids living in the house and hardly ever have passenger's. I pulled the door panel off too see what the problem was. I found for the first time in all my mechanicing years and ability that they used cable too operated the window up and down. It's the craziest thing I've ever seen. I found this site looking for info on the repair. I'm not looking for someone to do it nor too pay anyone. I'm just looking for some instruction's on the operation. I feel if Buick has this much problem with window regulator's they need too make it right. Thing's like this will keep me from buying another one. I also have troubles with a steering stabilizer light coming on. Talking with a Mechanic friend of mine it's all in the strut and a few hundred dollars to replace. The ride is fine so I let the light burn.

General Comments:

Over all we love the ride the performance. Love the looks. But I want a car that isn't going to cost me more than it's worth too maintain. My next one will be a Cadillac STS.

I am puzzled by this review. The only problems you mention are a rear power window failure (which you say you never use, so prop it up) and an issue with the steering. These are both minor repairs which would cost about $600 to repair. This is not a lot of money where repairing cars is concerned. Taking into consideration your car has over 100,000 miles you should consider yourself lucky. If you expect the car to be flawless, you might want to park it in the garage and not drive it because any car with over 100,000 miles (including the STS) is going to have some mechanical issues. And over this you say you will never buy another Buick, I'd hate to see how you feel if you have a real problem like a transmission failure.

2002 Buick LeSabre Custom 3.8 V6 from North America

Summary:

One minor repair will keep us from buying another Buick.

Faults:

All four windows have failed. 8/05, 9/07, 9/07, 10/07.

General Comments:

Otherwise, great car. After reviewing above comments on this problem, we are very dissatisfied with dealership and Buick for mismanaging this problem. It should have been recalled years ago.

2002 Buick LeSabre Custom from North America

Summary:

Beginning to have doubts about buying another Buick

Faults:

In July 2005, the left rear window regulator went out. Because the car had 31,000 miles on it, the dealer replaced the whole window regulator with the notes of "defective cable guide" in the repair order.

In May 2007, virtually all lights on the console (a/c, radio, etc went out - 2 at a time - for the next 3 weeks. Thank goodness for extended warranty, because the bill would have been $1800.00.

In Aug 2007, the passenger rear window regulator has had to be replaced at a cost of $470.00.

General Comments:

This is the second LeSabre owned, but am not happy about problems I feel should have been recall issues.

2002 Buick LeSabre Custom 3.8 V6 from North America

Summary:

Nice big family sedan for the price

Faults:

Coolant leak at intake manifold - repaired under warranty recall.

Broken window regulator - who ever came up with the idea of raising and lowering heavy glass with a 1/4" thick piece of plastic??? I'm not an engineer and I know better! I've heard stories about these costing upwards of $400 to repair. I've seen the parts on-line for $79. I fixed mine for the cost of a wire coat hanger and about 45 minutes of my time.

Gas gauge that reads correctly until the car is shifted into gear. Then it goes crazy. It reads from 3/4 to full until almost empty, then suddenly drops to the empty mark. Probably a bad sender unit.

General Comments:

Other than the serious design flaw in the power window regulator mechanisms, this car has been extremely reliable.

Lots of room and comfort. Competent, but not very sporty handling. Amazing fuel economy for a big car. I've had Honda Civics that didn't do any better.

Great buy in a used car. While the sticker was nearly $30,000 new, mine was purchased for $17,000 when less than 1 year old with 16K miles on it. Bargain!
