The prices of these Eldorados are already going up for the ones that have been taken care of.

Selling (NOT "asking") prices on eBay for nice fixed-roof low mileage examples are around the $5K-$6K mark -- not that impressive for a car that sold new for more than $20K nearly 30 years ago.

I bought an 85 Cadillac El Dorado in 2006: it had just 40,000 miles to its credit and was a mint example of this luxury Cadillac that I paid $5500 for. It was used on high days and holidays and never left outside. I sold it in 2021 for $20,000, the odometer then showing 65,000 miles. Allowing for inflation I would say this car increased in value, and the number of calls I had on it after it was sold suggests that it may well become a sought after example of an 80's Cadillac.

My maintenance costs were very low as I can find my way around engines quite well. Gas mileage showed 18 around the city and between 26-30 on interstate journeys. My current CTS, a V6 luxury, is faster and far better on the road in any conditions. But it is not an Eldorado and lacks that little sparkle that put Cadillac up a notch compared to most other vehicles.

Even before inflation this generation Eldo was fetching some pretty high dollars. They were the last of the big Eldos even though smaller than the previous generation. The following (86- 91) were awful as far as styling cues and electrical glitches. The final (92 and beyond) looked much better, almost a throwback of the topic car, but still small on the inside. I like this generation Eldorado. Stay away from years 82-85; not a fan of the underpowered unreliable 4100 V8. 79-81 were the better years . Yes, even 81 with the 8-6-4 engine.
